The NOOK e-Readers are now circulated through the Phillips Library Media Center! Ms Boyd wrote a grant and was awarded the devices for use in the classroom and an afterschool book club. You were selected to participate in this club because of your interest in the Street Literature genre and your responsibility when borrowing books from the LMC.

The students who participate in the book club will be reading books within the Street Lit. genre. Street Lit. is defined as stories set in urban settings/cities that feature characters whose experiences span cultural, social, political, geographical, and economic boundaries. Some of the books that will be read and discussed have references to sexual behavior, violence, drug use and strong language. The books selected are cautionary tales that will warn and make students think harder about decisions in their own lives. Students will discuss the content of each book in an open forum where they can ask questions and receive advisement from Phillips staff and guest speakers

Please read through the rules on the following page with your parent/guardian, sign and return the student/parent contract to Ms Boyd. The New Wendell Phillips Street Literature Book Club RULES FOR USING THE NOOKs
