Materials for success: - 11x14 or 9x12 sketchbook (preferably wire bound) - 2 Ebony Design pencils or HB drawing pencils - 1 kneaded eraser - 1 white eraser - Black Sharpie marker
Student Expectations: - You are expected to arrive to class on time, sit down, and wait for instruction or begin working on your project. - You are expected to follow all of the rules in the Cardinal Guide. - You must not talk when the teacher is talking. - You must come to class prepared and willing to work on your projects during class time. Participation is essential. - You must be courteous of others, including their artwork and opinions. - You must be respectful of all supplies within this room. - You must clean up after your own mess. - You may not use headphones or play with electronic games during class time. Do not bring these items to class. - You are not permitted to use the phone or the computer in the classroom. - You may not sit in the teacher’s chair or go in the teacher’s desk drawers.
Class description: The goal of this class is for you to become better artists and thinkers. In Art 7/8 we will explore many different types of media in order to prepare you for high school art. You will keep a sketchbook detailing your progress, create numerous projects throughout the trimester, as well as participate in classroom discussions and critiques.
Grading Policy: Each assignment will be accompanied by a list of evaluation criteria unless otherwise specified. Projects will be assigned a point value based on the evaluation criteria. Graded assignments may be re-submitted with improvements. It is your responsibility to make sure that you keep up with your assignments. Sketchbooks and written assignments will not be accepted after the due date.
