Save

To save a Word document as a webpage (html format), click on the menu “File”

Pay attention to: 1. the location and folder you save a file (projects should be saved in public_html folder) 2. the file name (preferably no caps or spaces in file name) 3. the “save as type:” “Web Page” should be selected

Save as a “Web Page” Creating hyperlinks: (external links on the Web) 1. Select “Hyperlink” on the Menu Bar 2. Type in or paste the link (e.g., http://www.augie.edu) 3. Make sure the “Link to” is set to “Existing File or Web Page”

Creating Projects in Word in HTML Editor Mode: 1. Note bottom left corner of Word document 2. Click 2nd left most object to use Word in HTML editor mode 3. When saving, SAVE AS “Web Page Theme: Select Theme to choose various Web Page backgrounds and styles. 1. Select Format on the Menu Bar 2. Select Theme 3. Review and choose Theme that best fits project theme and is easy to read text on background 4. Note that you can select/deselect Vivid Colors, Active Graphics, Backgrounds

Internal Links: Creating Internal Links is a 2 step process. First, create Bookmarks or targets. Second, create the links. 1. Step 1 a. Move cursor to “target” area to bookmark b. Select “Insert” on the Menu Bar c. Select “Bookmark… d. In the Bookmark name box: type name of bookmark and click add and then close e. Repeat above Step until all target bookmarks are entered 2. Step 2 a. Highlight text to create link to “target” b. Select “Hyperlink” on the Menu Bar c. Click on Place in this Document d. Make sure the “Link to” is set to “Existing File or Web Page” e. Click on name of bookmark and “OK”

Tables: When using images and text, it is strongly suggest that you create a table and insert images and text in various cells to preserve and maintain appearance of webpage for various browsers, monitor sizes, etc.
