School Again? Just Eat, Drink and Be Merry J

SCHOOL AGAIN? JUST EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY 

We (teachers) absolutely understand that anything sounds better than the fact that school`s back. It may be weird but it`s so- we share the feelings!!! Now the questions is whether we`ll get depressed or take things easy. It`s up to us!

Well, here is some advice on how to deal with the new school year. By the way, do you understand what “eat, drink and be merry“ means? People usually say it when they want to encourage sb.1 to enjoy life now, while they can and not to think too much of the future.

1. Keep your nose clean: do nothing that will get you into trouble with the police or other authorities (like the head teacher)

2. Be strong on something: some students are strong on dates (= they can easily remember important dates), some are strong on calculations (= they can easily work with numbers). What are you strong on?

3. Live and learn: learn through your mistakes and experience. If you do sth.2 wrong, just accept it. And don`t make the same mistake again.

4. Flex your muscles: show that you are ready and prepared to use your power and abilities.

“ Katy`s flexing her muscles, waiting for the day she becomes the Director of Advertising.”

Athletes flex (=stretch and tighten) their muscles before a race, fight or a game, etc.

5. Be on the go: be busy and active

“ She`s always on the go. I wish she would just sit down and relax sometimes.“

6. Be over the moon: be very happy and excited

“How does it feel to be the Olympic winner?“

1 Sb. - somebody

2 Sth.- something “I`m over the moon.“

7. Speak your mind: say exactly what you think, in a very direct way. Don`t follow your mates if you don`t agree with them.

8. Don`t go AWOL (eiwol) : don`t go missing without a permission or explanation
