COURSE MEETING DAYS: Tuesday & Thursday 5:30pm-7:30pm

REQUIRED MATERIAL Piano for Adults Book 1 (Bastien) 3 ring binder for class handouts & headphones with a quarter-inch adapter

PREREQUISTES: None

EVALUATION: Grades will be based on the following:

1. Performance of piano pieces, and scales, (10 song and 7 scales) 2. The total points of the 4 music theory quizzes 3. Completion of the written music theory exercises

No more than 3 errors can be made during the performance of the graded piano pieces. Pieces may be repeated as needed until the last day of class. You must play one song every week; otherwise you will only receive 5 points for your next song.

GRADING STANDARDS: A point system will be used to determine your grade. (See Example and Grading Scale)

THEORY: (See theory assignments)

ATTENDANCE: Students are expected to attend all sessions of class in which they are enrolled. More than 3 absences may lower your grade by one letter grade. There will not be make-up quizzes or make-up work.

If you know you are going be absent on the day of a quiz you must contact me in advance. Class will start promptly at 5:30pm so please be on time as I will not always be able to repeat lecture material that you missed due to lateness.

All written assignments must be turned in at the class meeting following the date of the assignment and theory assignment will be checked weekly. These exercises will prepare you for the two music theory tests during course of the term.
