University of Victoria Master of Nursing Advanced Practice Leadership (MN-APL) Student Profile Write in point form and spell-check your work.

All agencies are eager to know what your qualifications are and why you want to complete a practicum with them. They are interested in what you bring in the way of knowledge and skills (how much work will this be for the agency?), what you want to learn (does the agency mandate fit with your learning goals?), and how you might contribute to the agency goals (what will they get out of supporting your learning?).

Agencies receive requests from many types of learners. To stand out from other requests and help the agency see you are a good fit for a practicum, send your profile 5-6 months in advance of the course and tailor it to the particular location requested. There are a number of professional practice requirements agencies require before you start a practicum (verification of RN registration; CPR/BSL Health Provider level; mask fit test; immunization status; Criminal Records/Vulnerable Sector Screening; student orientation with certification of completion; IT account access; photo ID, etc.) You must with the Practica Coordinator well ahead of that time. Your profile is just the beginning of the process in securing a practicum.
