IV. President’s Opening Remarks. Tom welcomed everyone to the meeting.

V. Reading/Approval of Minutes. The minutes (from September 17, 2002 meeting) were reviewed, Rafael Ortiz motioned to accept the minutes as written and Cynthia Massie seconded the motion. The minutes were approved.

VI. Old Business.

A. Youth Ministry. Tom informed all that Matt Grice is officially the Youth Leader – hired from Cameron U. Will try to get Matt to attend the next Parish Council meeting. Will also try to get POC info on Matt to put on our monthly roster.

B. Outreach. Rafael passed out latest version of chapel cards. Produced with business card template in MS Word and printed on perforated cards purchased from Wal-Mart. Costs about $5.50 to produce 250 cards. SGT Burton suggested indicating which programs are not actually (physically) at New Post Chapel by showing FC (for Frontier Chapel). Rafael will update in next batch of cards. VII. New Business

A. Discuss Youth Program. Cynthia Massie reported that she talked with Mae Samuels, who said the youth program at Frontier Chapel is more of a social hour. Suggested we have someone talk with Frontier Chapel about possibility of combining the two programs. Tom H. will talk with CH Fowler about this possibility. Tom H. reported that feedback on our youth program has been that it’s just like another Sunday School class. Also said Matt Grice is charged with developing a program, and will brief CH Fowler on it. Cynthia suggested food as a draw – could consider scheduling parents of youth group attendees to bring some type of food to meetings. Tom also mentioned some parents are nervous about the topic – “Boundaries in Dating.” This may or may not be pursued as part of the youth program.

B. Outreach Pen Design. Tom H. passed a three-sided red pen around that has messages on each side. Idea is to give out these pens at events like the CG brief for newcomers, and in welcome packets. All agreed on the messages to go on the pen (“New Post Chapel, 442-5001,” “Spiritual Fitness,” and “Protestant Services – 0930 & 1100 Sunday”), the color (red), and on ordering 500 pens. SGT Burton will consult CH Goff before ordering the pens.

C. After Action Review of Sing-Along. This event is tabled until David Duncan is present to discuss it. CH Rabe did comment that some people commented that some type of food would have been nice for the event. Restrictions on food at the RSOC (where Sing-Along was held) was a consideration for not having food. Tom H. said attendance was good, and that it was an enjoyable event.

VIII.

A. Calendar. The November, December and January calendars were reviewed and updated.

B. Comments by NCOIC, Attending Chaplains, President. SGT Burton said (in response to item on last meeting minutes) that it is possible to schedule the chapel a year out. Just contact her. Also asked about Children’s Church ages to post in the bulletin. SGT Burton will contact CH Goff or his wife about the correct age to put in the bulletin. CH Rabe said some children who should not be there go there, so it would be a good idea to have the ages put in the bulletin. SGT Burton also mentioned SPC Zayas is leaving soon (last Sunday is Nov 5) – this brings up issue of putting up tables after bell choir practice. Tom. H. will contact David Duncan about this.

Tom H. asked about a few items in the bulletin that have (or don’t have) an asterisk next to them. For example, Hymn of Meditation does not have asterisk, yet we almost always stand. And we used to (and sometimes still do) stand for the scripture reading. Will bring up again at next Parish Council meeting when CH Fowler is present.

IX. Adjournment/Benediction. The meeting was closed with a prayer by Chaplain Rabe at 2019.
