The Everett Fairchild Scholarship Application Due Date: Friday, Feb. 8th, by 3:00PM

Purpose: In honor of Mr. Everett Fairchild’s years of service and leadership to our schools and the Hixson community, this scholarship shall provide financial assistance [for college] to a student with an interest in pursuing continuing education in any field.

Qualifications: Applicants must have leadership qualities and have demonstrated leadership within the school, the community, their church and/or service groups (i.e. Scouts, charitable organizations, clubs, etc.)

Eligibility: Applicants must be a graduating Senior of Hixson High School that has plans to attend an accredited community or 4-year college immediately (summer or fall) following graduation.

Application Process:  Submit the attached application by the deadline indicated above.  Please provide TWO (2) references (excluding immediate family) along with your application; include names, addresses, telephone numbers, emails and their relationship to you. Be sure that the references you include are familiar with your leadership qualifications.  Complete an extracurricular resume’ listing all sports, clubs, volunteer efforts and awards received as well as any other extracurricular activity you feel pertinent; a questionnaire is included with the application (page 3,4 & 5) and may be used as a template for resume’.  All documents (Application, letters of recommendation and cover letter) are to be submitted to the Guidance Office at Hixson High School in a folder to be submitted to the committee for review.

Selection Process: Recipient(s) will be selected anonymously by an impartial committee and will be based on materials provided by applicant(s). All scholarship applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision prior to graduation on May 11, 2013 .

Award(s): Award amounts and number of recipients shall be based on the amount of donations received by the award date as well as the final number of applicants.
