1. Waterproof Hiking Boots Make Sure They Fit Well and Have Been

Equipment List ***This is a list of the suggested items for our expedition. Please note that spring conditions in Nova Scotia vary from very warm to very cold and wet. All gear should “field tested” to ensure that they are warm/cool enough and in good working order. All of the following items should be packed in waterproof bags ( ziplock/garbage bags can also be used) .

1. Waterproof hiking boots – make sure they fit well and have been “broken in”. Brand new boots often create painful blisters. 2. Backpack with chest and hop adjustable belts as well as padded should straps. ***Please adjust it to your body before filling it*** 3. Sleeping bag and sleeping foam pad/thermarest pad 4. Jacket with hood suitable for the season and the climate 5. Rain wear – jacket and pants (NO Dollarstore ponchos!) 6. Socks – several pairs of thick wool and lightweight cotton or sock liners that will “wick away moisture from the foot to the outer sock layer. 7. Pants- wool, flannel, polar fleece or sweatpants (not jeans!) 8. Underwear and personal items 9. Shirts-wool, flannel, cotton or polar fleece and t-shirts (long and short) 10.Sweaters-medium thickness, long sleeves (wool or polar fleece) 11.Warm hat and mitts 12. Group Camping Equipment ***Carefully check/test all equipment prior to packing it. Ex. Tent with holes or no poles are virtually useless. A camp stove with no fuel does not cook very well.

1. Lightweight tent for 3-4 people 2. Stove and fuel 3. Cooking set and cooking supplies (spoons, tea towel, scrubbies for cleaning) 4. Axe 5. Stuff sack and rope to string up food and garbage. 6. Dining tarp and lashings ***if your group has room***
