2. CIMS - ACE Hardware US (Jan 2005 to July-2005)

Project Description

SIMS is a Central Inventory Management Systems application, used by some of the Ace Hardware stores. SIMS application is implemented using J2EE technology and is deployed on IBM Web sphere servers. The application is modeled on the MVC design pattern and uses the "Cyanta" framework, which is a MVC framework compatible with Sun's J2EE platform.

SIMS is a proprietary in-house application developed by the ACE's application development team. It is a web-based application, which is being implemented across its various stores. SIMS application currently runs across 700 stores and is in the process of being implemented across hundreds of other stores in the coming years. This SIMS application manages the retail side of the business for ACE hardware.

The SIMS application allows gives all the advantages, which are inherent to Web Applications. For example, no special software's are required to be installed on the client m/c, no specific hardware requirement, theoretically speaking anybody with a web browser should be able to access the EV app and get working on it.

As SIMS is a web based centralized inventory management systems it provides a bird's eye perspective of the retail side of the business at ACE Hardware to all the stakeholders concerned.

SIMS provides nearly all the features, which are provided by leading off the shelf inventory management applications plus some unique features which are only specific for ACE.

SIMS provides a huge set of features and facilities, which are tuned to Single Stores and Multi Store scenarios.

Project Description PaxTrax is a web-based application, which provides online data capturing, interface between Triversity POS (Point Of Sale) as well as AS400 (MCS) through IBM MQ. This application also supports the generation of reports for customs. PaxTrax application supports two languages i.e. English and Japanese for which Java internationalization was used. This application has a module called Bag Tracking that provides users online status of each of the duty free item right from the moment they were sold till the time they were acknowledged by customs department. Basically PaxTrax application is an add-on feature to Triversity based POS solution, providing features like capturing PAX and flight information, tracking bags, Customs Reporting etc.

4. AFCO/CAFO MIGRSATION -USA - (Oct-2003 to Feb 2004)

Project Description

AFCO/CAFO's premium finance software is twenty years old and resides on a Hewlett Packard platform. Support of this platform has several constraints:

* Hewlett Packard will no longer support maintenance of the hardware after 2006. * HP technical knowledge is diminishing. It is difficult to find and train developers in the HP COBOL programming language. * Changes to the software is time consuming and expensive. Some system processes are not automated and require developer support. * Multiple processing sites increase complexity and risk for programming changes, application and disaster recovery. * Interfacing with clients requires software installations to their PCs. This can be cumbersome, prone to errors and require close coordination with the client.

This project is designed to replace the HP software and hardware with a web-enabled system, centralized in Pittsburgh, using the e-Commerce infrastructure. 8. Installers Network - Circuit City USA - (Jan 2002 - Feb 2002)

This project had two main goals. The first goal of this project was to dramatically reduce if not eliminate the need for faxing to our vendors. The second goal was to dramatically increase the timeliness of the updates we receive from our vendors and to reduce our labor required to input vendor updates.

The tool to be developed and used for these goals was a password protected web site. This web site would allow our vendors to obtain new jobs and to update their jobs. This is a non-EJB architecture. Here JSP is used for presentation ie. Controller receives the request from the JSPs and forwards the request to the servlets and servlet talks to database.

For this complete web application, Logging mechanism and Lig4j framework has been decided for this purpose.

9. RiskPRiSM - PricewaterhouseCoopers U.K. - (Sept 2001 - Dec 2001)

Project Description

RiskPRiSM is a web-based Risk Management solution based on PwC's Risk Management methodology. Target users of this system are PwC and their clients. The system captures the structure of the Organization and allows definition of Objectives at each Organizational Unit level. Ownership of Objective is provided to track the progress made in the realization of the Objective. Users can define Risks that will be associated with each Objective. Controls can be put in place to mitigate the Risks and its effect. Probability and Impact of the Risk are another function in the system. Both Risks and Controls have Owners. Users can raise Issues for an Objective/Risk/Control. The Owner of the Issue can create an Action for the Issue. Action is an activity that is performed within the stipulated date to mitigate the Risk. Once Action is performed, it can be promoted as a Control. The users can perform the sign off of Risks/Controls and assess the performance for Risks/Controls in the system. The solution incorporates many different Views and Reports. View and Report presents critical data in a useful format, which are easy to analyze.

The present existing system comprises of four modules, which has been developed as of Phase IA including Phase I. 'Parameters', 'ORCA' and 'Management Views' modules are developed in Phase I. 'Reports' module has been developed in Phase IA.

Phase II is the continuation of the system developed in Phase I and Phase IA. Phase II comprises of following work.

Addition of Positive Assurance functionality along with the related enhancement to the existing system developed in Phase I and Phase IA. To enable the system for multi organization support using same installation. Title field of Objective, Risk, Control, Action and Issue to be increased from 100-character length to 300-character length.

Phase II add a new module 'Positive Assurance' to the system. Positive Assurance as a whole brings the

10. TALISMAN - CQR Technologies U.K. - (Feb 2001 - Aug 2001)

Project Description

This project is under execution for CQR Technologies, UK. The main aim for this project is to provide a proof of delivery service that would be based on some non-personal identification mechanism. The mechanism needs to be non-personal because the job of a delivery driver is to deliver packages, not to take payment for packages, and not to make judgements regarding the identity of the receiver. The proposition is therefore based on the concept of linking the shipping item to the receiver in such a way as to prevent anyone but the approved receiver taking delivery, which would also provide non-repudiable proof of delivery in the process. If this were the case, the delivery driver would only have to confirm the validity of the link between the shipping item and the receiver, and would not have to prove the identity of the receiver.

The Vision involves the development and implementation of a non-repudiable proof of delivery service utilizing modern technology, in order to remove the need for the delivery driver to make judgements relating to the receiver at the point of drop-off.

There are also a number of value added services that potentially could be established in the same area using adaptations of the proposed technologies. These, and the original vision, are outlined below, and form the basis of an extended service rollout plan.

Remote Shopping

The Remote Shopping service will remove much of the risk to the e-retailer and credit card acquirer associated with selling goods remotely. This service works by creating a link between the Receiver and the shipping item, initiated by the sender at the point the transaction is authorized. The link established by the CQR service would mean that only the actual purchaser or a person specifically authorized by the purchaser could take delivery of goods purchased.

Proof of Collection and Delivery

This means that the Pick-up process is managed by an accepted mechanism, as is the Drop-off process, and the two processes are linked through the CQR service.

Proof of delivery (with escrow)

This service is similar to that outlined above, but aimed at peer-to-peer buying and selling services involving the transfer of value, such as on-line auctions. In these cases, CQR would either hold onto the value, or delay the settlement until proof of delivery has been received.

As a Team leader of 12, handling the Logistic Module with three team members, the task was to prepare User Requirement Document, Detail Design Document & Test Plan Test Cases and assigning the task to team members and writing the EJB component.

11. Intranet - (Oct 2000 - Jan 2001)

Project Description

This project is executed for DSQ Soft Corp, US. The main aim of this project was to automate the entire functioning of the company. Also this addresses the issues concerned with the consultants, managers and even the clients of the company. Here the MVC architecture is used. The GUI are developed using JSP and Servlets. Components are developed using EJB. Backend is Oracle 8i; XML is used in the mails.

With a teamsize of 3, was responsible for HR module that involved Login, Personal Details of employee like viewing his payroll leave status, salary calculator and other forms. Also this module provided the other facilities like knowing the INS status of the employee, skills updating, resume bank and many other facilities that made the employee feel comfortable with the environment.

12. Shopping Mall - (May 2000 - Sep 2000)

Project Description

This is a shopping mall where users can select the product depending on the category and payment can be done through credit card. This is a full service secure e-commerce site providing all required services for an enjoyable on-line shopping experience. After placing an order, system generates an email acknowledgement to the user.

Executed for Goodlass Nerolac Paints Ltd., Bombay India. This is a web-based system, which keeps track on various activities like Administration (Telephone Line, Vehicle, Travel, Contract, Building maintenance, Hotel), HRMS (Salary Structure, policies, manpower, recruitment, reliving, Legal, training and development), Payroll (Salary Calculation, Loans, PF, LTC, Leave encasement) system.

14. Human Resources Management System - (Mar 1999 - Nov 1999)

Project Description

Executed for Transport Corporation of India Ltd., Gurgaon, India. This system is an integral part of ERP solution being developed in-house for providing customized results to the department of Human Resources and the Management to take decisions in time. The system consists of various modules from Recruitment, Personnel Information System, Payroll Processing, PF/Bonus/ Increment/LTA/Arrears and Ad-hoc Report Generation.

Responsibility

Responsible for leading a team of 3 persons and involved in analysis and designing. The job included system study, preparation of Data Flow Diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams, Data Diagrams, Table Structures and Screen Designing using Developer 2000. The responsibilities during the implementation were to migrate and convert the data from FoxBASE data files to new tables as per the new structures and testing the validity of data.

15. Cargo Operation & Reports Engineering - (Aug 1997 - Feb 1999)

This involved coding/developing CORE system that includes Consignment Booking, Forwarding, Trans- shipment, Delivery, Billing, Accounting, Lorry Hire Contracts and Customer Database are the important module of the system. HRMS covers around data about 3500 employees in the organization and it involves Recruitment Process, Personnel Information System, Payroll Process and ad-hoc Report Generation.

16. Logistics Management System - (May 1997 - Sep 1997)

Project Description

Executed for Transport Corporation of India Ltd., Gurgaon, India. This software was developed for TCI- Logistics. Logistics is the management of the entire supply chain to optimize the flow and positioning of raw material and finished goods, vital human resource information and all other resources of an enterprise. It is the time related positioning of resources. This concept is used primarily in transport & distribution channel. This system has different modules like Goods Receipt Note (GRN), Billing and Dispatch Instruction (BDI), Invoice Creation, Debit & Credit Note and Reports, Binding module and Space Allocation.

This system took care of GRN creation and physical acceptance of goods, BDI is a process, which is completed, in different phase like BDI creation, Acceptance, Splitting, and Modifying

Editing, Allocation, Block, Shop Order Integration, Packing list Generation, Issue slip Generation. In billing module, it will generate automatically billing number for a consignment depends on the volume of consignment

The responsibilities were understanding the present manual system, requirement study, system specifications, system design, coding, testing, training the users and implementing the system. As a part of the development team, responsibilities were to code various forms and reports using Developer 2000.

17. Computerisation Of Retail Pharmacy - (Aug 1996 - Apr 1997)

Executed for Batra Hospital, New Delhi. This system is the major role for the Patient and management. Using this department, patient can purchase the medicine after paying money.

Patient may be OPD patient or IPD patient. To keep the record manually is very difficulty. Using computer they can increase the efficiency of the department. Using this software they can generates the cash memo, daily sale, profit/loss, expire, grn transfer, sale purchases register, ledger etc.

Executed for Batra Hospital, New Delhi. This package prepares the pay slip; summary, I-tax details, and LIC leave record for every employee of Batra Hospital and Medical Research Center.

Project Description

Executed for KCC Software Ltd, New Delhi, India. Simulation is the tool used in today's world for building, testing, and operating models of real physical phenomena through the use of either mathematical relationship that exit among critical factors or graphical representation or both.

With the help of Digital Computer it is possible to examine that what happen when different values will be given to one or more of the variables of a given mathematical model. Thus the designer can look through several sets of alternatives of the system and can choose them.

Suitable one within very short span of time. Hence simulation technique is very fast, simple, cheaper and very useful for solving complex problems those cannot be solved by any other technique.

The main objective of this project is to develop a user-friendly simulation software package. This will be done using the three approaches

(a) High level and user-friendly interface. (b) Interactive execution. (c) Immediate graphical display.

The automatic control system is playing a vital role in the development and advancement of civilization and technology. Practically every aspect of our day-to-day activities is affected by some type of control system, e.g. in domestic domain, the automatic control, heating and air- conditioning system regulate the temperature and humidity of homes and buildings for comfort living.

The objective of control system is to control the output of a system in some prescribed manner by the input, through the elements of control system.

For the analysis and design of a control system the transfer function approach is extensively used. Transfer function is defined as the ratio of the Laplace transform of the output to the Laplace transform of input, under assumption that all initial conditions are zero.
