Patterson PTA General Meeting January 12, 2017 ← I. Call to Order ← The meeting was called to order at 9:35 AM ← ← II. Approval of November 10, 2016 Meeting Minutes ← The minutes will be filed as written. ← ← III. Principal’s Report, Mrs. Frost • Thank you for the holiday gift. The staff was thankful for all the cards and gifts. • Report cards open up today at 4:00. • Mid year assessments are going on right now. We use AIMS Web Plus. It was chosen as a district to use to monitor student’s progress. We use the information in house and it does not go to the state. They are testing in English/LA and Math. Some test are done one on one and some are done in a group setting. • No school on Monday. • Feb. 1st is our Open House 6:30-7:30PM. The school is open for parents and student to come visit student’s classrooms and see what the students have been doing. • Crone visit for parents of 17th of January 6:30-7:30. They are coming to talk to students today (1/12) and they will bring home packets. • More air conditioning is being installed. 8 classrooms for next year. • Spring Garden Club will start soon. They are doing extensive work in our courtyard. The district is going to clean it out and bring in some ground cover/rocks. • We had 5 trees that have been donated from the Gardening/Conservation Club. • Jump Rope for Heart on Valentines day. Feb 10th is Sock Hop and Parties. • Thank you to the parents on the PDAC panel that came in and did a Q and A with staff.

← IV. President’s Report • First semester was great all of our committees stayed in budget or below. • In March we will slate our board candidates and in April we will vote. • Pam, who is one of the afternoon custodians organized the PTA closet for us. And brought in shelving. We appreciate her efforts. • Labels for Education - the program is ending this year. We have 4300 points. We would like to use them for all new volleyballs, kickballs, soccer balls, footballs, etc. We could use the rest of the points for Visa gift cards. With those we could purchase hula hoops, steal nets, and pumps for outside. • There were some thank you notes from the staff. • Traverso’s 1/26 Potbelly 2/7 Cultural Night 2/24

← VI. VP - Finance/Fund Raising • Box Tops money came in and we have a balance of points for Labels for Education - see President’s Report. • Restaurant Nights - See President’s Report • Butter Braids raised money.

VII. VP -Enrichment/Social • Feb. 24th is Cultural Night There will be Expositions, Performances and Food. • March 8th is the Science Fair. Forms are due tomorrow. Will be looking for some volunteers for some hands on activities.

VIII. VP - Administrative/Service • Class Parties and Sock Hop is 2/10. A few classes still have openings.

IX. Old Business There was no old business.

X. New Business • We have about $11000 to use from our Fall Fund Raiser. The following are suggestions on how to spend the money: • Sound System for Gym - price quote is about $9000 - we are pursuing a final quote. • Entrance enhancements - i.e. putting shelter over the benches. • Put money aside for future 5th grade gifts to the school. Many years ago this happened. Now it is the picture of the class in the hallway is the gift. • Climbing Wall 40 foot wide horizontal structure. Mrs. Kiesewetter has money to put towards the wall. • Balls for Recess - we will take care of with Labels for Education • Water Filling Station for upstairs - would like to see if the District can do this. • Trees - we have 5 that have currently been donated. • Buddy Bench - we are currently using one of our existing benches and educated students and staff about this. • Vegetable Garden - We will coordinate with Garden Club to see what they have in store for the courtyard. • Courtyard - right now we are going to use the Garden Club to to that. • Mini Ipads - $250 each - The hope was for a full set of 30. • Getting new carpet - This is a district domaine and we can’t use PTA funds.

Discussion about Ipads - right now we have the Ipad 2s that can not be updated. The district does have a plan for the roll out for Chrome Books. Then for students for grades 3-5. They are still deciding what to do with K-2. The request came from 1st grade for a cart but to be used for all classrooms.

$ About 21,000 was raised from Orange Ruler.
