Financial Management

Welcome to Financial Management (Finance 555)! My name is Thomas Berry and I am a professor in the finance department at DePaul University. This course is designed as an introduction to the fundamentals of the corporate financial management process. We will learn some basic tools for analysis and then explore the finance process – which simply put is; raising funds, spending them, and distributing returns.

The method of instruction is lecture-discussion. The lecture material is basically coordinated with the textbook but may include additional material. While attendance is not strictly required it is strongly recommended, and students are responsible for any announcements made in class.

We will decide on office hours as a group so that I am available at a time convenient to you.

The textbook is Financial Management: Theory and Practice by E. Brigham and M. Ehrhardt, 10th Edition.

Grading: Grades will be based on a curve of your total points. Points are distributed as follows:

Homework 10% Quiz I 20% Quiz II 20% Final 50%

Additional information and solutions for the chapter problems are available on Blackboard. The attached schedule will be used as a guideline for material coverage, we will make adjustments as needed.
