BILL LONGWELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Up to $2000 in scholarship money is available to graduating seniors from Issaquah, Liberty, Skyline, or Hazen High Schools or to a son or daughter of a member of the Issaquah Alps Trails Club. First place is $1000 and two runner-up awards of $500 and $250 may also be offered. Entrants must complete both events described below and submit their application and essay by MAY 1, 2016. (Include the information requested on the attached cover sheet with your essay.)

Participate in one hike sponsored by the Issaquah Alps Trails Club (see schedule at issaquahalps.org) AND one trail work party through Washington Trails Association or the Mountains to Sound Greenway. (Trail work parties are listed on their respective websites; some are also listed at issaquahalps.org .) Talk with the hike and trail work leaders as well as other members of the groups. In a short essay describe EACH experience and what you feel you have gained from it. What insights did you gain about each organization and how it has benefited recreation in this area?
