You are invited to participate in a Request For Information (“RFI”) to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (“WFBMC”) for Supply Chain Distribution Services by responding to the content included in this document.
Responses should be submitted to Jonathan Kepley, Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing Department ([email protected]) and should be received no later than 3:00 PM EST, Tuesday, November 24, 2015.
Acceptable formats for the responses and any relevant appendices or supporting materials include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Adobe PDF.
Questions are to be submitted to Jonathan Kepley ([email protected]) and should arrive no later than 3:00 PM EST Monday, November 16, 2015 with responses expected within 2 business days.
Answers to questions posed will be distributed to all potential respondents. WFBMC reserves the right to refuse answering any questions. After the RFI responses are reviewed, WFBMC intends to have site – visit presentations at select facilities and then WFBMC intends to distribute a Request for Proposal. WFBMC intends to select a business partner with the goal of implementing in December of 2016.
B. REQUEST FOR INFORMATION – SUMMARY
WFBMC is issuing this RFI for the purpose of evaluating Supply Distribution Services (SDS).
The WFBMC goals for this RFI process include:
Increasing familiarity with Supply Chain Distribution Services vendors and associated service capability.
Exploring new models of distribution including, but not limited to, Logical Unit of Measure (LUM), Just-in-time delivery, 2-Bin/Kanban, and self-distribution.
Understanding supply utilization and analytics capabilities associated with a variety of models.
The remainder of this document provides a brief overview of WFBMC and the information we are in need of before proceeding with a Request for Proposal.
C. MEDICAL CENTER FACTS
WFBMC has 1,004 licensed beds and our patient volume continues to expand to meet the healthcare needs of the Piedmont triad and surrounding areas of central and western North Carolina. During the previous fiscal year, WFBMC saw 36,363 inpatient admissions, 26,115 day hospital visits, 103,754 outpatient emergency room visits, and 991,718 other outpatient visits, including to our clinics and other outpatient departments.

E. MEDICAL CENTER SUPPLY CHAIN DISTRIBUTION THREE YEAR VISION
Please review the attached Supply Chain Three (3) Year Distribution Vision. This includes our current state and an expected future state. We are looking for a partner that is “forward thinking” and willing to help us adapt to the ever changing Healthcare Industry and future Population Health models. We hope this Vision will help with your RFI responses.
F. REQUEST FOR INFORMATION QUESTIONNAIRE
Please review and respond to the attached Exhibit “A” RFI Questionnaire. Please provide detailed responses if applicable or needed for clarification.
G. PREPARATION AND RETURN OF RESPONSES
Respondents are to review this RFI and to submit a formal response. Responses are due no later than 3:00 PM EST, Tuesday, November 24, 2015. Responses are to be submitted in a sealed envelope/package and mailed to the address below. Proposals may also be hand carried to Jonathan Kepley at Piedmont Plaza II Suite 702, 2000 West 1st Street.

Respondent is requested to submit two (2) separately bound HARD copies and one (1) electronic copy (emailed file, CD or flash drive) to include responses to the information contained within. The greater the detail, information, and supporting detail you provide will be helpful in evaluation of responses. Elaborate format and binders are neither necessary nor desired. Legibility, clarity, and coherence are more important.
H. REVIEW OF RESPONSES
WFBMC will keep confidential all information submitted by respondents. No award of a contract for products or services will result from this RFI. A formal Request for Proposal (RFP) is expected to follow after Review of RFI Responses, Distributor Center Site Visits and Presentations. Response to this RFI does not guarantee an opportunity to be invited to participate in the RFP process.
