Metropolis of Boston Mission Trip 2013
This year the Metropolis of Boston will be participating in the annual mission trip to New Mexico sponsored by YOCAMA (Young Orthodox Christian American Missions Adventures) http://www.yocama.com/
The Metropolis group will be joining the St. Vasilios parish from Peabody. Together we will be sending a group to represent our Metropolis and participate in this life changing experience where youth and young adults experience faith and fellowship while working together and serving God.
Dates: July 12-20, 2013 Location: New Mexico Mission: We will be serving the people on the Navajo Indian Reservation. Delivering food through the local food banks and community outreach programs Repairing homes (painting, light construction work, roof repair) Preparing and serving lunches to the Navajo children Leading arts and crafts sessions and games with the Navajo children Building a community playground
Each participant is required to raise $1,200.00. This amount covers the travel expenses to New Mexico, your lodging expenses for the week, food and also supplies that will be used throughout the week. Fundraising is a way to spread awareness and include others who may not get the chance to participate in a mission trip such as this. Having family members, friends and faithful from your community support you and sponsor you for this trip is a way of including them in the journey of serving others, whether they can support you financially, with advice or prayers each person will be able to be part of your trip.
In the past the Metropolis mission trip has been open to High School juniors and seniors, this year we are expanding and including all high school aged students.
