Lesson Subject: Serving God & Others

Scripture Text: Matthew 25:31-46

Background Commentary:

Jesus warns us about having a self-serving lifestyle and forgetting those that have needs. Now days this seem to be the norm: me, myself, and I. We are so busy and in a hurry going nowhere. When we pass that homeless person on the street, or when some one asks you for food. What is it that you do? Do we turn and pretend we didn’t hear or see it? The truth of the matter is you just did this to Jesus (Matthew 25:40). We do need to use wisdom and discernment in such matters. There are places were we can donate food, clothing and monetary gifts. We, however, can’t afford to do nothing; it is a mandate from Jesus.

Discussion Questions

1. Where can I begin to meet a need? 2. What are some things I can do to serve the needy? 3. Is my church involved in meeting the needs of others?

Lesson in Life: It’s so easy to forget we are only here for a little while. When Christ comes, let’s all be guilty of doing all we can to meet the needs of others. We all want to hear Him say, “Servant, well done.”

Put in Practice Challenge: Every day ask Jesus, “What can I do to touch someone’s life today?”
