Student Ambassador Program

STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The Student Ambassador Program provides opportunities for Imperial Valley College students interested in developing their leadership effectiveness while building stronger connections between IVC, future students, and the community at-large. IVC’s Student Ambassadors assist and volunteer with the College’s development events and enhance the welcoming of new students to the Imperial Valley College community. Additionally, Student Ambassadors serve as the face of IVC at a number of community relation events.

Duties of an Imperial Valley College Ambassador may include:  Assist with the IVC 101 tours for community groups.  Assist with the Foundation’s annual fundraising and development events.  Assist with the campus tours for K12 students.  Provide assistance during departmental and campus events such as First Step, Orientation, IVC Day, Hall of Fame, Academic Festivals, Commencement (among others).  Participate in college fairs and community expos.  Attending quarterly Student Ambassador trainings and meetings.  Ambassadors will receive official IVC polo shirts, which will constitute a uniform that is expected to be worn during events, unless otherwise directed.  Other duties as assigned throughout the academic school year.

Priority Registration, Training & Stipend Information:  Students in the Student Ambassador Program will receive priority registration when scheduling courses here at Imperial Valley College.  Quarterly trainings will be offered where local leaders from Imperial Valley will make short presentations on topics relevant to leadership development and be available for questions and answer sessions with Student Ambassadors.  Each student Ambassador will be issued a $200 Scholarship at the end of each semester as a stipend for being an IVC Student Ambassador during the semester.

Student Ambassador Qualifications: Required Qualifications  Must be currently enrolled student at IVC or a first time student who intends to enroll in the following semester.  Must maintain a 2.25 grade point average or higher and be enrolled in a minimum of six units per semester and be in good standing with the College.  Be able to volunteer up to 50 hours during each semester at approved Student Ambassador events (see attached list). Desirable Qualifications  Graduate of any local Imperial Valley high school  Valid California DL  Bilingual
