Surrey County Premier League tables – does anyone have copies of the first and reserve team tables for seasons 1986/87 to 1989/90 and 1999/00 & 2000/01. If so, could you please email [email protected] or post to Surrey County FA office. Thank you.

DORKING FC

There is a problem at Dorking FC at the moment with the goals, which do not conform to the laws of the game. The Management Committee has closed the ground until the necessary renovations have been made. An inspection will take place this week and it is hoped that the Club will be able to resume home matches from Sat 19 Oct..

MORRELL’S MUSINGS

From Press Secretary, Neil Morrell

Midweek Matters & Musings 8th & 9th October, 2013

Not unlike last midweek along with a variety of cup competitions, five Premier Division fixtures contributed to make an interesting programme of activity for a good number of our teams out and about. Glancing through the fixture array and, ahead of their F.A. Cup with Budweiser tie, our friends from Hartley Wintney found themselves involved in Hampshire Senior Cup 2nd Round action in a home tie with Havant & Waterlooville (Conference League) which for this latest episode is where we commence our focus of thought for this past midweek. As enjoyable as County Cup matches are, people in the past have often asked why it is that, prior to the latter stages of qualifying rounds of the F.A. Cup, should clubs like Hartley Wintney be expected to be given a competitive fixture just a few days prior to such an occasion? Although not best qualified to answer, it is my own personal belief that if clubs involved in national competitions should be excused from domestic and County competition for the week leading up to an F.A. Cup tie to help maximise potential progress. Result wise, not a good one for our boys from Hartley Wintney as, thanks to goals from Dennis Oli (2) and a second half corker from Alex Przespolewski, they found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline. No joy for Badshot Lea either as their home tie with a youthful looking AFC Wimbledon (Conference League) side ran out highly convincing 4-0 winners over at Young’s Drive, Ash, in this Surrey County Senior Cup First Round tie. Better fortune was secured in the two Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy matches involving our teams. Firstly, Sandhurst Town made the long trip over to Newport Pagnell (Spartan South Midlands League) and all ended up well, though, for the 'Fizzers' as a 1-0 victory was secured; no mean achievement this result as, for long periods, the hosts certainly put our boys to the test and, additionally, the hosts also missed a penalty so, all in all though, a superb victory. Next stop for Sandhurst Town early November(ish) is a trip over to Abingdon United (Hellenic League). Further progress was also achieved by Windsor following a tremendous 4-2 home victory over a very hard working Wantage Town (Hellenic League) side who twice came from behind but were eventually eliminated. On target for Windsor were Dan Hicks in the 6th and 16th minute plus a brace from Ben Harris on 49 and 69; the reward for this victory being another home tie for Windsor on a date to be advised against Shrivenham.

The all CCFL Aldershot Senior Cup 2nd Round match involving Alton Town and Ash United resulted in a 3-1 victory for visitors Ash United; no details of next round draw or match analysis available as I write, regretfully. Southern Combination Cup news, albeit very brief, is that Spelthorne Sports secured another massive success in their game over at Staines Town (Isthmian League). With both sides locked at two goals each after two highly entertaining hours over at Wheatsheaf Lane, the tie was settled by kicks from the penalty mark. A 7-6 scoreline was then recorded in favour of 'Spelly' which was a terrific achievement and most certainly one to be very much applauded and totally admired.

Four Premier Division matches in addition to those above matches saw visitors Westfield secure a 2-1 victory over at Bedfont Sports and Molesey were 3-0 winners over at Cove. Our other two games saw a rampant South Park team go top of the table thanks to a 6-1 home victory over Chessington & Hook United thanks to goals from Dan Guscott on seven minutes and Kieran Lavery three minutes before half-time. A third 'Park' goal arrived four minutes into the re-start, Chris Smith on target this time, and Elliot Mitchell on seventy minutes slightly reduced the deficit only for the visitors then to see Karl Parker hit two in a minute on 86 and 87 minutes and, just for good measure, Chris Smith then made it 6-1 in stoppage time.

As many by now are aware, I tend to get out and about midweek wise from time to time and one of the places I find easiest to get to and from is the New Defence, home of Horley Town. Sure it means a 02.00 arrival home but no problem there from my point of view. Not unlike so many of our member clubs upon arrival, a really warm and friendly welcome awaits all match day visitors which always makes the journey so much more enjoyable. Fair to say the season has not quite gone the way many locals might have hoped for as, at the start of play, sadly they occupied the Division's bottom spot. Opponents on the night Farnham Town were on the back of three successive defeats so, for the handful that turned up, I thought they were well entertained. Goals from Asa Curtis and Gary Tomlinson for the home side plus one from Craig Smith ensured a narrow 2-1 home victory to lift them from the bottom of the table. There could, and maybe should have, been a few more goals to enjoy but it was not for the want of trying from both teams and I came away having, as always, enjoyed my trip made the more enjoyable chatting with Chairman Mark Sales and wonderful Secretary Nicky Maybury who I always find such good hosts as they, although very busy on a match day, have time to chat and work continually to make this club such a pleasant place to visit.

Wednesday evening, just the two competitive first team matches resulting in a 7-2 away win for Epsom & Ewell following their trip over to the Sports Arena to face AFC Croydon Athletic in a Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup 2nd Round tie. Two up at the interval against their Division One hosts, these two sides certainly turned up the gas second half with the hosts scoring two and Epsom & Ewell adding another five to their first half tally ensuring smooth progress through to the next round with the minimum of fuss. The one Premier Division game saw hosts Colliers Wood United slip to a 2-1 home defeat against Wembley where all the goals came during the first 45 minutes. Kryzstof Kucharczyk gave the visitors the lead on seventeen minutes which was then doubled seventeen minutes later, however, barely five minutes later, home faith was raised when Steffan Joseph pulled a goal back. For the remainder of the first half, 'Wood' tried, but to no avail, to square matters and, second half, the game got a touch bitty and the match ended up 2-1 in favour of the visitors.

Before closing this round-up, I must congratulate Windsor Secretary Steve Rowland who, earlier on in the week, picked up a 'Grassroot Hero Award' at Buckingham Palace from HRH Prince William. A richly deserved award to a smashing guy who, for over 30 years now, has done more than his share of super things for the then Windsor & Eton and now the newly formed club. Well done Steve.
