Western Chapter Board of Directors Meeting February 28, 2017 Denny’s Restaurant, Transit Road Minutes Meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. by WC President, Peter Tarnawskyj
Board members present: Phyllis Jensen, Cheryl Palmer, Barbara Cunningham, Sharon Kettner, Charlie Kettner, Peter Tarnawskyj, Linda Tarnawskyj, Mary Szarek, Nancy Reeves, Mary McNall, Barbara Rauscher, Barbara Moore
Motion to accept minutes from the January 24 meeting as presented- Sharon Kettner 2nd- Phyllis Jensen Carried
Treasurer’s report- current balance $11,999.31 Motion to receive and file- Mary McNall 2nd- Cheryl Palmer Carried
Peter Tarnawskyj : Correspondence: Friends of Knox- Membership Lothlorien Winter Newsletter Farm Bureau Membership
Support for New Empire State Trail Petition to collect signatures at EquiFest and a page explaining the trail system Sandra Mancuso will produce big posters to display at EquiFest.
Donation to Knox Farm $2,000. Collected from sale of Tops cards will be presented to East Aurora Town Board sometime in March
EquiFest Report: Barbara Moore 47 presentations + Breed Parade + Shawn Flarida Clinic Mary Szarek 140+ vendor, several new this year
Barbara Moore Saddle up for St Jude Trail Ride Checking Sept 16 as a potential date, Darien Lake State Park Will firm up date and Barb Cunningham will then call and conform Insurance
Barb Cunningham EquiStar Therapeutic Riding also having benefit ride at Darien Lake, August 27th Clinics: Introduction to Foundations of Ranch Horse Work July 8 & 9 Flyers for all planned clinics were distributed: Centered Riding with Susan Strong Kelley, April 22 - 23 NYSHC clinics and events: The Making of a Trail Horse, Wolcott Farms, August 5 - 6 Gary Lane Clinic to benefit NYSHC, Morrisville, July 15 - 16 Annual Membership meeting September 22 – 24, Knox Farm State Park, Mark Munzert and Kimmy Hudson will appear Friday evening at meeting
Mary Szarek: Questioned change in procedure for establishing clinics hosted by the WC. In the past clinic ideas were discussed at meetings and voted on, this year clinics have just been set up and announced. Board discussed and agreed (no vote) that any Board member can establish and run a clinic on any topic without Board approval as long as there is no cost to the WC. Any clinics involving cost need to be brought before the Board and voted on.
Charlie Kettner Knox Farm Meetings January 28th and February 27th, public forums shared ideas about uses for the property
Barb Cunningham- motion to fund a picnic table for Chautauqua County Trail System 2nd- Sandra Mancuso Carried
Phyllis Jensen- Motion for Peter Tarnawskyj to spend up to $500 on a laptop computer for the use of the WC Secretary 2nd-Mary McNall Carried
Mary Szarek- Motion to adjourn 2nd- Cheryl Palmer Carried 8:02 p.m.
