Medical Science Academy Clinical Dress Code Please Print, Sign and Return for next class The handbook dress code of Florence High School will be upheld in addition to the below: General standards Purchased through MSA will be Solid colored black scrubs are to worn on assigned days only. o Assigned Days Examples: . MSA Awareness Days- Schedule will be provided ASAP . Career Fair Attendance . Field Trip attendance . Lab Days as directed . HOSA Competition or other meetings . Clinical Assignments (optional during sport coverage) . Groundhog Shadowing Day (Hosted around February 2) Scrubs are to be kept neat, clean and properly fit. Shoes are to be clean, without tears and appropriate for the job. Tennis shoes or nursing type shoes are allowed. Sandals, slippers, Tom’s and flip-flops are not appropriate. No open toe shoes. White socks or white/natural hosiery must be worn. Only solid white undershirts may be worn, if student desires. Only white zip/button/snap up light jacket may be worn, if student desires. No hoodies. Watch with a second hand is to be worn (for accurate vital signs, no digital watches) Personal hygiene and grooming are essential and required. Use of deodorant is expected and fingernails must be an appropriate length (no longer than 1/4 of an inch from the end of the finger). Only clear fingernail polish may be worn. Hair must be kept neat, clean and pulled back off the collar. Hair should in no way cause distractions or interfere with patient safety. Jewelry should be simple, not excessive and must not present a safety hazard. Dangling jewelry is not allowed. Students may wear ONE stud type earring in each ear lobe. Facial and tongue piercings are inappropriate for wear and are not allowed. Make-up should be natural looking. No perfume, cologne, or after-shave should be worn in patient care areas and worn in moderation in non-patient care areas. Males must be cleanly shaven. (No facial hair allowed due to N95 mask) Tattoos are to be covered and not be visible during clinical hours. (Students are responsible for covering tattoos.) Infection control standards The following regulations are to prevent harboring and spreading bacterial infection. The wearing of artificial fingernails while in clinical situations is prohibited. Acrylic overlay nails are prohibited. Only clear fingernail polish is allowed. Fingernails must be trimmed to no longer than 1/4 of an inch from the end of the finger and must be clean on top and underneath the nail. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A HEALTH SCIENCE TEACHER ON THIS DAY, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GO BEFORE SCHOOL OR BETWEEN CLASSES BEFORE LUNCH!!!
