Small Fruit & Vegetable Twilight Meeting Wednesday, June 6, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. McKenzie’s Farm, Milton, NH Jock and Annie McKenzie have been growing tomatoes for over 20 years. They currently have fourteen greenhouses. Their high quality tomatoes are marketed both retail and wholesale to local markets and other farm stands. In addition to tomatoes, they grow strawberries, raspberries, apples, and a smaller amount of other vegetables. The focus of this farm tour will include nutrition, disease control & management of:

Greenhouse/tunnel tomatoes Plasticulture strawberries Summer-bearing raspberries

We will discus: post bloom and pre-harvest insect and disease control in strawberries; weed, disease and insect pest control, and training systems in raspberries; use of biocontrols of pests in greenhouse tomatoes and in strawberries. Jock will also demonstrate bed making for plasticulture strawberries.

UNH Cooperative Extension specialists speaking will include Dr. Alan Eaton (integrated pest management), Dr. Cheryl Smith (plant health), and Dr. Becky Grube (sustainable horticulture)

2 NH pesticide applicator credits will be offered. To receive credits, you must sign in by 5:30 pm.

DIRECTIONS. FROM THE NORTH & SOUTH: Take exit 18 off the Spaulding Turnpike. FROM MAINE: Take 202 West to Rochester NH. Take Spaulding Turnpike north. Take exit 18. From exit 18: Turn right onto Rt. 125. Take second left onto NE Pond Rd. (lst left past NH Farm Museum). Farm is 3rd driveway on the left, about 2 miles from exit.
