Context and Role Purpose: Informa plc is the leading provider of specialist information to the global academic and scientific, professional and commercial communities via publishing, events and performance improvement.

The UK Shared Service Centre (SSC) supports 5 market facing divisions which together represent c£1232 million revenue. Over the last 12 months, the focus has been to drive greater development, efficiencies and synergies across both the finance and customer operations areas; this is the continued strategy throughout 2014 and beyond. The UK Shared Services is based across two sites, Colchester and Byfleet, consists of approximately 280 staff.

Central Accounting & Performance Analysis as a department has been rebranded from Business Analysis and has had its remit widened to play a greater role in helping the SSC and the IT functions that it supports achieve the demanding targets on cost and performance that have been set for the forthcoming year.

This is a high profile role which requires liaison with Informa staff across ALL IT functions/regions/businesses. It is also a role that promotes development and has opportunity to grow in terms of its responsibilities.

The role is predominately a management accounting and reporting role, so strong communication and analytical skills are required. There is an element of financial accounting which involves intercompany HUB, assets and accruals/prepayments, which support the IT function. Project accounting is also relevant and the role provides opportunity to develop new skills.

Overall summary:

The CAPA team is responsible for:

 Provision of management accounting support for GB138 IT, GB138 Non-IT and NL016, GB237, and three new Group companies arising from the Project D transfer  Monthly forecast updates and provision of detailed cost analysis to SMT and IT Management  Preparing and delivering the annual budgets for SSC and IT within agreed Group deadlines  Preparing and communicating the annual recharge and true ups for each Business Partner at a departmental level split inclusive of variance analysis from previous budget  Monthly balance sheet reviews inclusive of variance analysis, RAG status analysis & identification / follow up of process improvement ideas  Monthly GB138 Profit & Loss Account variance analysis (split by GB138 IT, non IT, Premises & Mailing House)  Responsibility for balance sheet postings including intercompany, payroll, finance charges, SAP, and Mailing House  Preparation and maintenance of the UK SSC Service Framework Agreements with all BP’s  Monthly preparation and reporting of all SFA associated KPIs to SMT & Business Partners  Preparation of monthly report to Group on Forex movements & origins  Preparation of monthly report to Group on working capital movements  Compilation, maintenance, & associated reporting on the UK SSC Balance Scorecard  Governance of QlikView including its implementation and application for UK SSC  Provision of other analysis on cost and performance for SMT, BP’s and / or Group

The department consists of approximately 10 employees and forms part of the Support Function Team Created September 2012 This role is providing support to the Business Analyst for IT inclusive of GB138 and NL016. The key requirement of this role is to provide accounting support and information to the IT and Enterprise Management Team based in London, US, Europe. This support also includes provision of monthly reporting and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, assistance in the calculation of global IT recharges, project accounting.

Although IT is a non-profit making function, they are required to fully charge services to business partners both in the UK and overseas. The responsibilities of this role includes fully understanding the costs, the drivers of those costs and how the allocations of costs to services works.

Responsibilities:

 Preparation and production of monthly financial reporting in accordance with timescales and accounting standards;  Preparation of reports including variance analysis of actual to prior month forecasts, budgets;  Project accounting for IT projects including those on behalf of business partners;  Assist in preparation and maintenance of forecast models extending to a 24 month period for IT Management;  Use developed tools for forecasting and recharging – ‘Adaptive Planning’ and ‘Apptio’. Training will be provided;  Assist in preparation of annual budgets;  Prepare recharges and arrange intercompany invoicing of such charges globally;  Provide ad hoc analysis and costing information as required by UK IT Managers;  Assist with general accounting queries including liaison with Group and IT CIO;  Undertake specific and Ad hoc projects as required;  To assist in the development of process changes;  Reconciliation of control and costing accounts;  Understand the recharge mechanisms for IT recharges to be able to answer queries in absence of Business Analyst;  To be actively involved in the strategy and objectives of the CAPA Team;  Provide assistance to Business Analyst and UK SSC as required.
