THE WHITLEY PLACE SCHOLARSHIP OF THE DALLAS FOUNDATION

The Whitley Place Scholarship Fund was established at The Dallas Foundation in 2008 by CC Joint Venture, LLC, developers of the Whitley Place Master Planned Community. The goal of the scholarship is to provide scholarships to students graduating from Prosper Independent School District and planning to study specific math/science related fields as detailed below.

Applicant must submit application and all required materials on or before the deadline of March 31, 2017. Faxed applications will not be accepted.

Awards will be based on academic achievement and planned course of study. Personal interviews may be required and final awards will be determined in May. One scholarship of up to $2,500 will be awarded annually for tuition, fees and books, and will include an opportunity for renewal for a total of 4 years and $10,000. Confirmation of the student’s enrollment will be required, with the actual payment made directly to the educational institution.

ELIGIBILITY

You are eligible to apply for a Whitley Place Scholarship if you satisfy the following criteria:

1. You are a graduating senior of a high school in Prosper Independent School District; 2. You have applied to and plan to attend an accredited college or university; 3. You have a minimum GPA of 3.0; 4. You must plan to pursue studies in the area of civil engineering, construction science, construction management, architecture, landscape architecture, planning, public administration, mechanical engineering or other math/science related fields; 5. You are a U.S. citizen or legal resident.

3 CERTIFICATION AND INFORMATION RELEASE

REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS

Application and the following documents are due at The Dallas Foundation office by March 31, 2017.

1. Certified high school TRANSCRIPT showing GPA and class rank;

2. A typed essay of no more than 500 words. This PERSONAL STATEMENT should describe your individual character and accomplishments, career and educational goals, and motivations and obstacles in pursuing your education.

3. On one attached page, describe:

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES you have participated in during the past four years, such as student government, sports, and clubs, including offices held and any special honors you have received;

COMMUNITY SERVICE activities in which you have participated in the past four years, including the number of hours per week spent on the activity and how many days, months, or years you participated in the activity;

WORK EXPERIENCE you have had in the past four years, including your length of employment, the number of hours you worked and how much you earned; and

4. At least one, but no more than three, LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION written on your behalf by persons not related to you (teachers, counselors or supervisors). Each reference should include a telephone number where he/she can be reached during the business day.

It is the responsibility of each scholarship applicant to submit all of the required items on or before the application deadline of March 31, 2017. Faxed applications will not be accepted. Due to the volume of scholarship applications, The Dallas Foundation cannot assemble items that are missing from applications. For that reason,
