3.1 Welcome and apologies

3.2 Minutes of previous meeting – Fij Miller

3.2.1 The group passed the minutes of the previous meeting held on 15 September 2005 as true and correct.

3.4 Contractor’s update

3.4.1 Environment Management Plan (EMP) - Simon Bohm. A presentation regarding the EMP was made. The EMP is not a public document. Abigroup will make the document available for perusal in the Abigroup offices to the

CLG and the community, on request and under agreement by the Contractor.

3.4.2 Construction update – David Toms No change since last report. Construction is scheduled to commence in November. The bridge piles will be delivered late October to Docks 1 and 2. There will be work on the piles (e.g. tubing and wielding) early November, with river piling commencing mid month. The site office is reaching completion and awaiting water and telecommunications connections.

3.4.3 Design update – David Toms The design has advanced with construction imminent.

3.3 Business arising – Fij Miller

3.3.1 DTEI to provide brochures and leaflets to the CLG once finalised. Maree Wauchope reported that up to 50,000 leaflets will be printed. The brochures will be produced for distribution at the 20th Anniversary Celebrations at the end of October.

3.3.2 DTEI to prepare media release promoting the CLG for the Portside Messenger. Maree Wauchope reported that the media release was issued.

3.3.3 DTEI to report back on intranet site/information sharing system for CLG. Maree Wauchope reported that following the responses to Fij’s email regarding Freedom of Information all information will be disseminated via email direct to the CLG. Confidential emails will be marked in the subject line as ‘Confidential for Community Liaison Group only’.

3.5 Community Involvement Update

3.5.1 Displays Maree Wauchope reported that the displays have been erected in the Port Adelaide Enfield Council offices, and will be in place for two weeks. The displays will be used at the 20th Anniversary Celebrations and is booked for use at other community events over the next two months.

3.5.2 Community leaflets for distribution Bernie Auricht reported that the leaflets have complied with all approvals and were in print. The leaflets will be distributed to all residents and businesses in the distribution area by letterbox delivery on 18 October 2005. The distribution area incorporates west of South Road and north of Grand Junction Road to Outer Harbor.

3.6 Community representative reports

CLG group members were given the opportunity to share information and highlight issues on behalf of local organisations and the community regarding the project.

3.6.1 Information and issues raised:  Allan Rice - all members have been kept informed of progress.  Tony Kearney – information given to the Editor of The Portside Messenger; interest from Simon Royal and Chris Warren of ABC Radio; requested a review of the DTEI website suggesting there should be a higher visual indication of the project; recent press releases need to be uploaded onto the DTEI website; Mr Kearney presented two articles he had published in two editions of the Classic Yacht Association Newsletter; commented that the community need more information about the bridges such as what they look like. DTEI responded that they would provide more literature and copies of artists impressions to CLG members for use in discussions with the community regarding the PRExy Stages 2 and 3. Action: Maree Wauchope to provide literature and posters on the proposed rail and road bridges to CLG members as required.  Steve Woodrow – Tabled that the head of DoTaRS toured the PRExy Stage 1 and the location of the bridges and commended DTEI on the project. PRExy will be promoted in other states as an example of best practice.  Ian Kuhl – the 20th Anniversary Celebrations is an opportunity to promote the PRExy Stages 2 and 3; recommended that all commercial boat and tour operators be consulted regarding the river piling. Action: Bernie Auricht is to approach the proprietors of the Port Princess.  Cath Duncan – PRExy Stage 2 and 3 were highlighted at the recent Chamber of Commerce AGM. Has requested information to display at the Port Dock Brewery that is used as a meeting venue for community groups such as Rotary and Lions Clubs.  Kristine Peters – presented the recent copy of the Portfolio newsletter, produced by Rod Sawford that featured an article on the PRExy bridges.  Iain Steenson – gave a presentation on the PRExy Stages 2 and 3 at the recent Port Adelaide Residents Environment Protection Group meeting. The group requested more information on traffic projections. Action: Maree Wauchope to provide information on traffic projections to the CLG.  John Fitzpatrick – the community perceives that the traffic on St Vincent Street has increased; suggested use a different angle to promote PRExy Stages 2 and 3 by promoting the ‘little picture’ to give the community a vision of how the project will reduce the load on St Vincent Street. Action: DTEI to give a presentation

to the CLG on the approach to traffic management between PRExy Stage 1 and 2.  David Hemmings – requested more detail on the 15% design; queried the inclusion of bicycle lanes. Abigroup suggested that at the next meeting the drawings approved to date could be made available for CLG members to peruse such that the members may understand the nature of the design process and to gain an appreciation of the level of detail of the design. Action: Hugh Weir, Abigroup Design Manager, to be invited to next CLG meeting to provide an update on the design.

3.7 Other Business:

 Maree Wauchope informed the meeting that there would be a media event acknowledging the commencement of river piling in November. The date is to be confirmed. Action: The CLG will be invited to attend the announcement on site to signify river piling.  Steve Woodrow is to report to the CLG regarding the Naval Exclusion Zone in the Port River. Action: DTEI to report back to the CLG regarding this issue.  The Port River Sailing Club was proposed as the location for the next meeting.  Next meeting 10 November 2005. Ian Kuhl and Kristine Peters will be an apology for this meeting.  Guest presenter at the next meeting will be Vic Neverauskas, Program Manager, Marine Habitat, PIRSA.

3.8 Meeting closed 8.00 pm.
