This seminar in Manila, however, is designed for Seafarers, providing them with guidance and information about the vetting and Port State Control processes as well as on vetting inspections. We also hope to confirm a key note address by a representative of the Philippine Government. INTERTANKO has kept a strong focus on Human Element issues within the shipping industry and with Filipinos comprising the majority of the world’s seafaring population; the Vetting Committee supports this focus by conducting these biennial vetting seminars in Manila. The seminar focuses on providing seafaring officers and crew with training/presentations to enhance understanding of the vetting process, the aim and mechanics of ship-inspections and to provide guidance on preparing for and ensuring a smooth and successful inspection. This seminar is provided as a service to INTERTANKO members and attendance is Free of Charge to seafaring officers and crew working for member companies. There is no limit on the number of attendees and members may register as many seafarers as they feel will benefit from this seminar. Registration is compulsory in order to be able to attend the seminar. We strongly encourage members to send their seafarers for this unique half day event, senior officers (deck and engine) will also benefit from attending. Junior ranks and petty officers will gain an insight to the whole vetting process and by attending the seminar, will be better prepared for such inspections. A certificate of attendance will be provided to all those seafarers who attend The seminar will be chaired by Capt Michael Wilson, President of Laurin Maritime (America) Inc and Chairman of INTERTANKO's Vetting Committee and will feature four speakers and a Q&A session.
