Interactive Donations Box for The Hothouse

Overview More Music is a music and education charity based at The Hothouse, Morecambe with over 20 years of experience delivering workshops, training, performances and festivals across the district, region and beyond.

We produce work and events that are truthful, have a powerful artistic aesthetic and that are joyful and beautiful. We use many art forms but predominantly music. We take our work out across the town, district, region, country and onto an international stage. We believe in making new and original work and developing a sense of place by working with and in communities.

The Project

We have recently received Catalyst: Evolve Funding from Arts Council England, which aims to enable more private giving to arts and cultural charities and to encourage philanthropic donations. As part of this project, we are looking for a fun, interactive collection box for our foyer. Over 400 visitors come into The Hothouse and through the foyer every week to make music, meet, learn and be part of something exciting.

The box will encourage these visitors and participants to make small but regular donations and will promote our charitable status in a very public way to those who visit The Hothouse. We want a box that is beautiful, engaging, humorous, secure, accessible, practical and enticing. It also needs to be robust, low maintenance as well as being easy to empty and to clean.

All donations will support a Musical Instruments Fund that meets an on-going need and will directly benefit those who are most likely to donate. [Type text] [Type text] [Type text]

The box will be placed in the foyer and electricity can be available. Considerations about how the foyer space and how the donations box works in it include: access in the foyer area (we have regular wheelchair users), security (it needs to be securely attached), interactivity/animation and a reflection of More Music. We can supply dimensions for each wall on request. This project could be a collaboration between artists such as a sound artist and visual artist/engineer.

Budget

The budget for this piece of work is £1500.
