Introduction to Superflex: Page 20-26 BASC Progress Monitoring: Teacher - Introduce Superflex: a Social Superhero 1 - Read Superflex Takes on Rock Brain and the Team of Unthinkables Pre-Survey - Discuss some expected/hidden rules in our society. - Talk about Flexible Thinking and why it is important. Cleaning up Social Town - Begin thinking about what ‘Unthinkables’ are in our own brains.

Cleaning up Social Town Activity: Page 24 Each student will be given a worksheet to draw three examples of citizens who are using their ‘superflex’ thinking. Review ‘Superflex’ and the team of ‘Unthinkables’

Becoming “Superflex” - Introduce the concept that each of us has our own “Superflex” within our brains. - Have students create their own way of becoming “Superflex” and provide capes to help get into character. 2 Unthinkable and Power matching game In Comes the Team of Unthinkables: Page 47 - Introduce the Unthinkables by having students match the “Power” card to the correct Unthinkable on the poster. (14 total) - Discuss how the Unthinkables can affect our behavior. - Send home copies of the Unthinkables for parents.

My Unthinkable Team Activity: Page 54 - Discuss how every person has their own team of Unthinkables (including adults). - Have students look through the Unthinkables and their powers, and then decide which are in their team of Unthinkables. My Unthinkable Team worksheet - Explain that everyone has a Team Leader, or an Unthinkable that hangs out in our brains 3 more than the others. Superflex Headbands - Complete the “My Unthinkable Team” Worksheet and share with the group.

Superflex Headbands Review Game - Each student draws a picture of an Unthinkable. - Students will ask group members questions to help identify what Unthinkable they have. - Students will use the information they have learned to make a Smart Guess. 4 Unthinkable #1: Chosen based on the needs of the group. Refer to Unthinkables Learning Plan. 5 Unthinkable #2: Chosen based on the needs of the group. Refer to Unthinkables Learning Plan.
