1. Undergraduate degree in fisheries management, natural resource management, fisheries science (or other related field) relevant to the demands of the role. Experience, Skills and Knowledge (Essential) 2. Five years progressive experience in fisheries management

3. Extensive experience in fisheries management work as a technical professional with national Government or regional organizations, preferably in the Pacific region; 4. Demonstrated experience in researching, preparing and presenting papers to a high standard and/or at international forums in one or more of the following areas; natural resource management fisheries management; the western and central Pacific tuna fishery. 5. Demonstrated practical fisheries management experience with analytical and research capabilities;

3 6. Extensive computing experience, particularly with word processing, database and spreadsheet packages 7. Working knowledge and understanding of fisheries modeling and stock assessment; 8. Thorough understanding of fisheries management principles and techniques;

9. Excellent English verbal and written communications and presentation skills, both at a technical level and in the preparation of information destined for presentations and general circulation; 10. Extensive knowledge of the Pacific Islands region and good understanding of the oceanic fisheries management issues in the Pacific and challenges facing Pacific island countries in the western and central Pacific region Qualifications experience and Knowledge (Desirable) 1. Experience at a senior level in national fisheries management, preferably including tuna fisheries, or in the provision of high level advice on fisheries management, preferably including tuna fisheries. 2. Experience in designing and delivering learning and development/training programs; 3. Experience in successfully preparing and managing contracts and the work of consultants; 4. An appreciation of donor policies and processes in relation to funding for

4 fisheries projects 5. Proven ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
