DWYER INSTRUMENTS, INC. POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Director of Sales and Marketing

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall organization, staffing, direction, and guidance of the Sales & Marketing functions of the company, including domestic and international sales, worldwide sales inventory, sales forecasts, advertising, literature, product and market analysis, etc. Also responsible for performing related special projects.

SOURCE OF DIRECTION: Vice President Sales and Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for preparing, coordinating, and executing business plans and budgets with respect to overall product and market strategies, company sales goals and profitability. Maintains department expenses at or below budget values.

2. Responsible for organizing, staffing, training and leading the sales and marketing department so as to achieve the planned activities and objectives of the department within budget.

3. Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets. Assists in recommending, specifying, and evaluating new products.

4. Responsible for establishing and maintaining systems and procedures to enable the achievement of objectives with respect to customer service, inventory levels, product pricing, field sales calls, field sales product training, market intelligence, sales forecasting, literature preparation, news releases, and other important sales and marketing functions consistent with corporate and department plans.

5. Responsible for the direction of all sales activities including domestic and international field sales and inside sales support functions, as well as maintenance of worldwide sales inventory to meet customer satisfaction and inventory turn objectives.

6. Responsible for the direction of all marketing and market analysis activities (including advertising, web site, literature, competitive product information, etc.). Responsible for expansion of and security for our customer and inquiry lists. Directly responsible for the expansion of our resale program.

7. Assists in representing the company with key customers, at trade shows, and other functions.

8. Directs and manages product management and performs various special projects in support of the other functions of this position. Achieves assigned performance metrics for product growth, market expansion, and profitability.

9. Maintains department work ethic, culture of honesty, respect for all co-workers and “value” orientation by setting a good example. Encourages “more output at less cost” in every activity.

10. Provides timely and quality services and support to all internal and external customers. Independently seeks and identifies problems and constraints blocking progress toward these objectives. Consistently develops creative and effective solutions to those opportunities.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree in engineering plus minimum of 10 years experience in commercial or industrial sales and marketing including at least 5 years experience managing a field sales operation. Experience in consumer marketing a plus. Strong preference for MBA and Professional Engineering Registration.
