Just to keep you informed, as of June 27, 2014, here is a brief synopsis of things being worked on/or accomplished in your City.

City Manager’s Office  Attended a BSU Meeting with Councilman Lonkart and citizens for presentation and answers about ANC questions.  Attended the Young Professional Focus Group at Community Hall to talk about Downtown Redevelopment.  Met with Camuto Group executives and staff to answer questions.  Attended the Chamber 2014 Membership Appreciation and Awards Luncheon at the Estero Country Club at The Vines.  Attended the Publix Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting for the new Publix on Bonita Beach Road and US 41.  Met with Bill Frasier regarding Weeks Fish Camp.  Met with Alexis Crespo and Arleen Hunter regarding the Big Box Presentation for City Council and the Bamboo Parcel RFP.  Director of Parks & Rec Nicole Perino and I met with John Paeno to discuss the extension of his contract.  Participated in a Downtown Redevelopment Workshop for staff to discuss A) Shear Unity and Lemon Tree Lot; B) Community Hall and Liberty Lighthouse Church of God; and C) Shangri-La Street Vacation.  Attended a meeting with Major Rairden to discuss some Lee County Sheriff’s Office changes.  Attended a meeting regarding Week’s Fishcamp with City staff and Bill Frasier, Jim Ink, Chester Young and Charlie Garcia.  Met with State CRS Coordinator, along with other local municipal and county partners, in order to formulate strategy to best protect the city’s rating for compliance under the National Flood Insurance Program.  Took members of the City’s Technology Advisory Board on a tour of the Lee County Emergency Operations Center in order to provide them with a look at the uses of technology in disaster preparedness and response capabilities.  Provided various other ADA Coordinators with copies of the city’s draft plan for ADA compliance in order to obtain the benefit of their experience relative to project prioritization and cost estimates.  Attended a meeting of the South Geographic Division’s pre-storm review meeting at the Bonita Grande fire station. Meeting was attended by Lee County Public Safety representatives along with other local agencies that we will be partnering with before and after a local emergency.  Attended a meeting on Fort Myers Beach with Town and County representatives along with numerous other stakeholders to discuss the progress being made on the proposed Big Carlos Pass dredge project.

Completing the annexations, with the Heron Cove parcels finishing the former referendum area. 3. Codification of Municipal Code and Land Development Code. 4. Community Development staff with Large Retail, Single family residences in mobile home parks, US 41 Planned Development requirement for certain uses. Still in progress: Sign Code. 5. Lee County and LCSO changing Noise Ordinance to an objective code. Will be bringing to Council in August or September following the County’s completion. 6. BSU Tariff changes. 7. Non-motorized vessels – working with Parks & Recreation.  Litigation: 1. Code Enforcement Foreclosures: a. Hernandez – Joe is preparing for hearing on the City’s Amended Motion for Clerk’s Default (July 14, 2014). b. Daring case, Joe will be taking the next step by preparing a Motion for Summary Judgment. Upon granting, City will ask file for Motion for Clerk’s Default. c. Sandsmark 1 (12096 Carpenter Lane). Joe will represent City at Case Management Conference set for July 11, 2014, and seek a Motion for Appointment of an Attorney/Guardian Ad Litem for Sandsmark (other foreclosures with this defendant needed same action). d. Sandsmark 2 (12086 Carpenter Lane) Joe will take same action following Court ruling on Sandsmark 1. e. Hancock – Waiting to see if family member can intervene before Special Counsel converts Lien to Judgment on personal property on his Homestead. 2. Carter Outdoor Advertising – Special Counsel will seek direction of Counsel at July 2, 2014 meeting. Time sensitive based on Florida Statutes §70.001 (Bert J. Harris Act).  Transactional: Code Enforcement Hearing Examiner Agreement. Professional Photography Services for the Historic Preservation Board’s Photography Documentation Project; Tax Surplus of $39,000 for a Code Lien on Dortch; Bay Creek CDD Right of Entry, Working on the revised agreement for Calusa Ghost Tours to continue, Mayhood Park – work by Honc Destruction, reviewed Asphalt Paving Overlays, K-nine Interlocal Agreement with LCSO; Session Laws for 2014 legislative session.  Land Use and Planning: (1) Renaissance - road turnover terms, (2) Red Hibiscus – road research as to ownership, (3) Bay Village – inquiry on administrative amendments, (4) American Tower – Prepared for hearing prior to withdrawal by applicant, (5) Estero Bay Marina – prepared letter to lenders – pending, (6) Baywoods – clarification for due diligence, (7) Hannula – pending enforcement, (8) Review of July cases for PLCA COP, Veteran Post COP. City Clerk:

 The front desk/reception staff greeted 167 guests and directed 416 calls to various departments from June 12, 2014 to June 27, 2014.

 The codified versions of the Code of Ordinances and Land Development Code have been received from Municipal Code Corporation. The second reading and public hearings to adopt both Codes is scheduled for July 2.

 Three new replacement copiers have been installed at City Hall, which are faster and less costly machines.

 The air conditioning and AAON units have been serviced for the coming summer season.

Communications Department: Events:  Processing Special Event Permit for Lions Club Outdoor Flea Market.  Met with a company called My Promotions to discuss craft/art show permit process.  4th of July Planning.  Coastal Clean-up Planning.  Processing Special Event Permit for Mid-City Ministry Food Drop.  Working on Movie in the Park Series for next season. First movie will be “Frozen” on December 13th.  Attended pre-hurricane season South Geographic Division meeting.  Visited downtown businesses and mailed letters about 4th of July festivities and road closures. BTV:  Pre-production in progress District 6 Our Town Segment.  Pre-production in progress Historic Preservation Downtown Walking Tour.  Bulletin Board updating, and BTV98 monitoring observed daily. Live meeting broadcasts:  City Council Meeting (CCM)  Local Planning Agency (LPA)  Citizen Water Strategy Task Force (CWSTF) Records weekly update and general equipment maintenance:  A Comcast malfunctioning audio encoder was replaced at Comcast. Press releases/Media:  4th of July sponsored ads are being aired by Renda Broadcasting.  The City of Bonita Springs Launches New Trap-Neuter-Return Program for Feral Cats. Web:  Working with Department Heads to update City Website Information.  Transitioning Facebook Friend Page to a Government Page.  Updates made to City Web & Social Media. Development Services:  American House – Longfellow Lane drainage and roadway are under construction connecting this property to Imperial Blvd. Perimeter walls and landscaping will soon buffer the residential property to the south.  RaceTrac Fuel Bonita Beach Road – Final landscaping is being installed with an opening planned in July.

D:\Docs\2017-12-16\0a20233cb6177f8ae0939542b35c3dab.doc  Bonita National East Bonita – The Golf Course is being seeded and the irrigation pump house under construction. Development plans for Phase 1 and 2 single family are under review by staff. Lennar hopes to open the golf course in November and complete model homes by the end of this year.

D:\Docs\2017-12-16\0a20233cb6177f8ae0939542b35c3dab.doc  Center of Bonita – Publix opened on schedule July 19th. The contractor is giving the north building a facelift and a few tenants are in negotiations to move in this area by the end of the year. Phase 2 construction in the south parking area will begin very soon.

 Pelican Landing – The new Pickle Ball Courts are now open for use by residents. Similar facilities are planned in other gated communities.  Channel 30 Cell Tower - Collier County is processing a permit to add new equipment on this site. Staff is considering a requested modification to the Master Concept Plan.  Estero Bay Marina Site – Staff is meeting with and reviewing a master plans for the Marina and Commercial Property north of Coconut Road.  Bonita Lakes – Completed and opened their new Club House. Phase 3 homes are now under construction.  Ceilo in the Colony – Plans are under review for a new secondary entrance of Coconut Road. This entrance will be monitored by high tech cameras and entry software.  Bonita Bay Lake Renovations - Several hundred feet of shoreline stabilization has been added to the several lakes in this community. Sea walls and geo-grid stops erosion and the structural integrity of homes and pool decks.

 Finance is working in the new software to complete set up before Go Live on August 4th.  Staff is developing reports with existing third party applications, Activenet and ADP, to import Parks & Rec and Payroll data into the new accounting software.  New procedures for recurring tasking are being designed for the new software.  We are testing our processes in the new software and communicating updates as needed to our Consultant.  Staff is converting our vendor data for the new accounting software.  The preliminary revenue estimates are being developed for the 2014-2015 budget cycle.  Staff is monitoring State of Florida revenue estimates which have not yet been released and will be subject to change through the end of July.  We are incorporating Lee County taxable value July 1st estimate into our draft of the 2014-2015 budget.  Staff attended the Florida Department of Revenue Truth in Millage Compliance workshop.  We are working with senior staff to finalized budget presentations.  Staff drafted the debt service and special revenue schedules along with the 10 year capital improvement plan for the 2014-2015 budget.  The Governmental Funds have been balanced for the 2014-2015 budget.  We are developing the Five Year Financial Forecast.  Budget Workshop packets are scheduled to be distributed on Thursday July 10th. LCSO:  Traffic Operation on Old US 41 Road/ Rosemary Drive.  Traffic Operation E. Terry Street/ Matheson Avenue.  Provided security for City Council meeting.  ATV Patrol in the State Streets reference recent burglaries in area.  Attended EOC Meeting at Bonita FD #4.  Conducted crime suppression operation in Old Bonita reference burglaries. Parks & Rec:  The Recreation Center has a new part time Recreation Attendant this week, Forrester Grey.  Staff working with both Honc Destruction and Quality Enterprises, Inc. for the construction to begin for the Dog Park.  Met with City Manager and John Paeno for negotiation of terms for his new vendor agreement with the City for Riverside and River Park Canoe/Kayak concession.  Met with the finance department to create a new Park Admin cost center instead of staffing and admin cost all in the Recreation Center cost center.  Met with city staff and Community Development staff regarding Downtown Redevelopment projects specifically park areas downtown.  Met with Finance staff, Matt Feeney and City Attorney regarding funding allocations for capital improvement projects for the upcoming budget.  Conducting interviews for the open Full time Senior Recreation Specialist position.  Staff working with FPL to discuss our agreement for different types of uses at Marni fields.  Heat Related illness and injuries was held at Community Hall on Thursday June 26 th at 10:30am. The event was very successful.

D:\Docs\2017-12-16\0a20233cb6177f8ae0939542b35c3dab.doc  Parks and Rec Staff helped with set up of the employee appreciation luncheon held at Community Hall.  The Community Pool experienced a lightning strike this week. A contractor has fixed the issue and the pool was reopen.  Marni fields received extensive graffiti vandalism on the outer fence facing I-75. The staff worked to remove, but in the end had to paint over the graffiti.  Old Recreation Center building was used as a voting precinct for the election on Tuesday with 78 voters.  Working with City Attorney to work up a new 5 year agreement for John Paeno and Calusa Ghost Tours for usage of Riverside and River Park.  The City Soccer Complex and Marni fields are currently undergoing being re-sod and will remain closed until August so the new sod can root.  Met with the Senior of Bonita Group to discuss their volunteer group for the Recreation Center.  Met with Juan Romero with the Casa Mexico group to discuss the summer Futsal season and activities.  Met with John Robinson to discuss the fall soccer season of the Bonita Youth Soccer League. Public Works:  Shangri-La Road: Construction Continues, poured curbing, began to install lime-rock road base, poured sidewalks. (See Photos)  Unpaved Roads Phase II: Held pre-construction meeting with project contractor.  Downtown Redevelopment: Attended meeting with Community Development personnel to discuss City owned properties within the downtown corridor.  Storm Water Treatment: Met with Sutron Engineering to discuss potential Low Impact Development storm water quality project locations.  City wide Landscaping: Met with Christian Busk to review 60% plans on all 5 miles of US 41 landscaping. Reviewed initial plans for East Terry St landscaping.
