Land ’N’ Sea finalizes purchase of Benrock assets

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (Feb 7, 2005) – Land ’N’ Sea Distributing, Inc., a subsidiary of Brunswick Corporation, today completed it’s purchase of selected assets of Benrock, Inc. With the addition of Benrock’s four distribution centers, Land ‘N’ Sea now offers same day / next day delivery to over 80% of the U.S. boating market through 17 distribution centers. The purchase was part of the company’s strategy to build a coast-to-coast distribution network capable of rapid delivery of marine parts and accessories to marine dealers and independent repair shops, wherever they are located.

Based in Benton, Ark., Benrock had been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since early December 2004. Final approval of the sale of assets was granted by the United States Bankruptcy court yesterday.

“We are extremely pleased with the court’s decision to allow us to close this transaction in a timely manner,” stated Tom Schuessler, chief operating officer of Land ’N’ Sea. “The process of replenishing inventory in all four locations is fully underway. We recognize the seasonal needs of the Benrock customer base and anticipate being totally prepared to handle the demand,” added Schuessler.

Land ’N’ Sea will continue operating the business under the Benrock name. Craig Hamilton, newly appointed general manager of the Benrock operation declared, “An outside sales team comprised of a combination of Benrock veterans and other experienced marine industry professionals is in place to service our dealers needs.”
