Circle desired drive:
Extremely HIGH ("TURBO Charged") Peel off the ceiling type dog! (ONLY for experienced BC handlers!) 10 + off the charts!
High—On a scale of 1 to 10, this would be an 8-9 drive level.
Medium (capable of doing any job, but not "over the top" hyper) About a 5 drive level.
Low (A low drive BC is still higher drive than most other breeds!) Even the "Low drive" BC must be kept "mentally stimulated and active!" These pups still need training. Normally the lowest drive pups I have are still around a 3-4. They will still play ball and do dog sports, but they are calm and less excitable and not as prey driven. I guarantee this puppy to be healthy and free of disease for two weeks following purchase. Your puppy has been examined by a vet a few days before you received it and was given a clean bill of health. You will be given a copy of the health certificate and a shot record indicating when the next shots are due. Please do not take your pup to the vet until these shots are due, with the exception of an emergency, of course. Vet clinics are a major risk for disease exposure, especially when the pup’s immune system is stressed because of the change in homes. Also, I do not advise taking your pup to places frequented by dogs, such as Petsmart, Petco or dog parks. Please call me if your pup is showing any signs of illness after you get it. The breeder shall not be held responsible for any expenses incurred after the puppy physically changes ownership.
By signing below, I agree to have this puppy spayed or neutered at approximately 12 months of age. We don’t recommend spaying or neutering before 9-12 months. Studies show the dogs NEED their hormones for proper growth and many other reasons. Please read this article on early spaying/neutering and the canine Athlete: http://www.caninesports.com/SpayNeuter.html Proof of this must be sent to the breeder.(Email is fine) AKC papers will indicate a "non-breeding" status.(Limited registration.) Your puppy will only be AKC registered. AKC names can be up to 30 letters and spaces. Instead of ABCA papers, you will receive a four generation pedigree with photos of your pup and its parents. EYES: Your puppy will be genetically free of CEA because all of our adult dogs have been tested by Optigen labs. Visit www.optigen.com/ for more information on this NEW blood test. HIPS: As a Breeder, I have OFA’d and/or Penn Hip tested ALL of my intact dogs that I am considering breeding and in some litters, 5 generations of the ancestors have passed OFA and/or Penn Hip testing. Even with all that testing, Hip dysplasia can occur. There are many genes that control the disease and it’s not fully preventable or predictable as with CEA. As a breeder, I do everything possible to prevent it. (Recommended testing.) There are also things you, as the puppy owner, can do to prevent your pup from being at risk of HD. Please read this article on Hip Dysplasia. http://www.showdogsupersite.com/hips.html I guarantee this dog to be free of hip dysplasia until the age of 25 months. The dog's hips must be OFA X-rayed www.offa.org between 24-25 months of age. The buyer shall be responsible for any expenses incurred for this test. A copy of the test result is to be mailed or e-mailed to the Breeder. If the dog is found to have HD, the dog will be replaced or the purchase price refunded at the breeders choice. If the dog is to be replaced, the buyer will be placed back on my deposit list with the date the OFA report was received. The buyer may pick their replacement pup just as they did with the first dog. The buyer pays the cost of shipping the replacement puppy. The owner/buyer may keep the first dog or send it back to Lock-Eye at their expense. Herding: Only if the puppy was purchased with the intention of working livestock and it does not show any interest in livestock by the age of 15 months, the buyer may return the dog to the breeder. (Buyer pays shipping) If the breeder proves that the dog does work livestock within two weeks upon arrival, then NO refund/replacement shall be given. A video tape shall be provided to the former owner as proof that the dog does work livestock within 2 weeks of return. Many factors can suppress working instinct. Some of those include: Working other dogs, herding a ball or other toy, chasing cars, scolding the dog for working, etc. The buyer may opt to take the returned dog back after receiving the tape. In this case, the owner must pay $25 per week for boarding the dog until it can be returned.(This fee is from the day the dog was picked up from the airport or returned.) Return shipping must be paid in advance by the buyer. This offer is only good for one month after the date the dog is returned. If the dog does not work livestock after two weeks, then it shall be replaced within 12 months of the date the dog was returned or a refund will be given. Shipping the replacement puppy is also at the buyer’s expense. The breeder has the option of refunding the purchase price instead of replacing the puppy. There will be no refund or replacement if the puppy is worked on cattle or non dog broke sheep before 12 months of age. (A kick to the head can kill instinct and the puppy.) * Disclaimer: If a dog is trained for competitive obedience or Agility, sometimes the dog will not show any interest in working livestock, because it is trained from an early age to focus on the handler or the tug toy, ball, etc and will not be "keen to work" livestock. If the pup is not purchased specifically for herding, the breeder makes no stock working guarantees. Health guarantees will still be valid. *Prior to one year of age a pup's bones are still growing and developing. Jumping a puppy too high during the growing stage can cause health problems that would not have developed had the puppy's joints not been stressed. If the puppy is jumped over elbow height prior to one year of age, the hip guarantee is null and void. Your pup needs to be switched to adult dog food at 4 months of age. We place our puppies in homes we intend to be permanent; however, as the breeder of this Border Collie, we will always accept its return. There will be no refund of the original purchase price. If this dog is sent back to the breeder for any reason, the AKC papers must be given to the breeder with a signed transfer. ***If for any reason the buyer can't keep this puppy or adult Border Collie, (At any age.) the buyer must contact Michelle Weese, the seller/breeder. I will assist re-homing this Border Collie. A potential home that the current owner recommends is fine, but it must be approved and a new contract signed to assure we always know where our dogs are! The buyer agrees not to surrender his/her dog to Border Collie Rescue or an animal shelter of any type. The buyer agrees not sell, give away or otherwise dispose of this dog. The Border Collie purchased from Lock-Eye Border Collies must remain in the same home with the person listed as owner/puppy buyer. If you have problems with your dog at any age, please call me so that I can advise you how to deal with them. This written agreement is a binding contract entered into the State of Oklahoma in Adair County and any dispute arising shall be resolved within the court system of Adair County, Oklahoma. The buyer agrees to use the Kennel Name of Lock-Eye as a prefix with the AKC name. The buyer agrees that he/she will not place the pup or grown dog loose in the open bed of a pickup truck.
