November 6, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians: Wednesday, November 15, 2017 is “Conference Day” for all Chicago Public Elementary Schools. There is no school for students on this day. Parent-Teacher-Student meetings will be held in two conference sessions. The first session will last from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the second session is from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Please do not come to school from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Teachers will not be available during that time.

PYP and MYP students will participate in student-led conferences. We believe that having students lead their conference encourages them to take ownership of their learning. Therefore, students are highly encouraged to attend the conference with their parents/guardians. Please come prepared to spend a minimum of 45 minutes at Peirce for Student Led Conferences. If parents have confidential questions for the teacher, please ask to set up an additional meeting outside of the student-led conference time.

MYP Only: The parents of MYP students will pick up their child’s report card on the third floor from their homeroom teacher who will help to facilitate the student-led conference. After the conference, if you wish to speak with an individual teacher about your child’s academic progress in a particular subject, please report the teachers’ classroom with whom you’d like to speak. . An appointment sign-in sheet will be posted on the door, so that you may sign up for a five minute conference. If you would like to schedule a more extensive conference for another day, you may do so by contacting the teacher you would like to meet with through our website (peirce.cps.edu) or calling the main office at 773-534- 2440. Appointments will NOT be assigned prior to Report Card Pick-Up Day/Parent- Teacher Conference Day.

PYP Only : Please sign up for a time block. You may come to your child’s classroom at any point during that block, unless otherwise informed by your child’s teacher. Families who are unable to attend either of the two sessions on this day are asked to come to the main office any morning after November 15, 2017 to receive the report card, it is also highly encouraged that an alternate conference be scheduled between the parent and teacher.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the PYP Coordinator, Mrs. Lebovitz for K-5th grade questions and the MYP Coordinator/Assistant Principal, Dr. Talyia Eve Riemer for 6th-8th grade questions. Thank you for your continued support, as we work together for the academic and social progress of each student.

Sincerely,

6 de noviembre de 2017

Estimados padres / tutores:

Sinceramente,

Lori Zaimi Director de escuela
