Eco-friendly and power-efficient technologies

GTower, will be a testimony to the developments of modern architectural design and a fully-equipped sky scrapper will soon be built with the latest infrastructure in Kuala Lumpur city center.

The modern building targeted at corporate businesses is an integration of offices, hotel and a recreation club.

GTower is a unique development integrating offices, hotel and a club – comprising 120,000 square feet of open office space, a 180 rooms five-star boutique hotel, 112 CEO duplex office suites ranging in size from 2,500 sq ft to 7,200 sq ft, and stylish club facilities, as well as food and beverage and recreational facilities.

According to Colin Ng, Director, GTower Sdn Bhd, the building was part of an investment and initiative to build a grade A++ project based on the latest technology.

“Besides technology convergence, we also made sure that the electricity usage cost will be reduced and at the same time reducing the level of pollution,” he said during the launch of its collaboration with 3Com recently.

It is expected to spark public interest through office space which offers 21st century luxury office concept and functionalities and which is targeted at IT, oil & gas, banking sectors as well as MSC Malaysia status companies.

Interestingly, GTower Sdn Bhd has selected 3Com as its networking solutions provider to complete the building’s infrastructure.

This includes equipping the building with redundant fibre optics and Cat 6 cable for connectivity. This also means that the users within the building’s vicinity will have the opportunity to enjoy high-speed Internet connectivity.

3Com will also provide IP-based intelligent applications to ensure the convergence of various intelligent functions within the building. Client: 3Com Date: 9 October 2008 Publication: Utusan - Mega Page 13 Page 3 of 3

GTower will showcase the latest smart card and RFID technologies, IPTV, video on demand, data services, IP telephony and other IP based applications.

To ensure smooth implementation and management of the sophisticated technology, GTower also has its own data center to provide technical support.

3Com will deploy its intelligent building solution known as 3CiBS. 3CiBS will help to reduce power consumption and carbon emissions, whilst providing optimal power and networking capacity. In addition to having the highest fabric capacity per watt in the industry and being up to 60 percent more energy-efficient than its competitors – according to a recent report by independent research firm In-Stat – 3Com’s network switches come standard with ‘green’ power adaptors that have 90 percent power conversion efficiency.

This is because 3Com ensures its products are based on green and eco-friendly.

GTower located at Jalan Tun Razak, KL is expected to begin operations in first quarter of next year.
