Presentation provided and will be posted to Government Projects SIG website.

Briefing regarding HL7 Templates SIG New Activities Galen Mulrooney gave a briefing regarding new HL7 Templates SIG New Activities.

 Detailed Clinical Models (DCM) – initiated by Intermountain Health (received first email on 5/9). First Face-to-Face meeting was held last week (Sept 8&9). o The idea is to cut loose from implementation considerations and consider the clinical information that we’re trying to capture. In other words, to store what some people would call “templates” o It will have a repository of canonical models – in a single formalism (perhaps openEHR archetypes). o The models in the repository can be transformed to other formalisms (e.g. HL7 Templates, OWL) with reasonable ease. o Currently want to be open and transparent, but will not be open to everyone. For now they want a small group in order to be nimble. o Models will not necessarily be seen as authoritative or normative o In Europe there will be a certification process for (13606) archetypes. This is in process and should be in place within two years. (European Research Project). o A DCM is a generic term for clinical information models

 Gave overview of constraint language and tools proposals that are being put forth by HL7 Modeling and Methodology TC.
