Dear Parent/Carer You may have heard in the media about funding schools are receiving, called the Pupil Premium, that aims to support eligible students to help ensure they receive every opportunity to help them reach their full potential at school. According to the Department for Education your child(ren) is/are currently entitled to support through the Pupil Premium funding. Students entitled to the Pupil Premium might be eligible for a variety of reasons including: Currently entitled to Free School Meals Previously have been entitled to Free School Meals over the last six years Students who have parents serving in the Armed Forces Students who are currently ‘looked after’ by the Local Authority It is up to schools to decide how this money is allocated to support students. Here at Alderman Peel High School we are consulting with students, parents and staff and governors to develop a series of pledges that we intend to make available to every student eligible for the Pupil Premium. As well as developing a personalised learning plan for your child(ren) so that they fulfil their potential. Enclosed with this letter is a feedback form I would like you to complete (with your child(ren) and it will help us to develop support structures to support your child(ren) and allow them to reach their full potential. In addition, if your child achieved below expected levels in Year 6 SATS exams in literacy or numeracy at the end of their time at primary school, they may also be entitled to ‘Catch Up’ funding that allows the school to put in place additional support to raise their attainment in English and Maths. If this is the case you will be informed by a separate letter. .To be able to attend all day trips linked to the main school curriculum as they progress through the school
.To attend at least ONE residential trip linked to the school curriculum during their time at the school
.To be provided with opportunities to take additional responsibilities within the school e.g. Prefects, Peer Mentor, School Parliament, LRC Assistants
.To be provided with opportunities to attend events aimed at raising aspiration, that might include visits to organisations, companies and further and higher education institutions
.To be provided with a 1-1 Careers Guidance from Year 8 .All KS3 students to be given a revision book for core subjects (Maths, English and Science)
.All KS4 students to be given a revision book for all their GCSE subjects
.Year 11 students who are unable to attend after-school revision clubs due to transport issues will be offered free transport
.To be to have Music tuition for ONE instrument
.To be able to attend at least ONE extra-curricular club of their choice each term
.To attend key school events celebrating success and achievements e.g. Rewards trips, Leavers Ball, Certificate Evening
.To be provided with 1-1 tuition in Maths and English where the student is significantly underachieving
.To have access to books and computers in the Learning Resource Centre before school, lunch time and after school
.All students to be given a “starter pack” to include dictionary, calculator, pens, pencil, ruler etc. Starter pack to be personalised for KS3 and KS4 students
