2. Important Dates and Times

3. Tryout Application Requirements a. No Pass/No Play UIL regulations b. Must Pass all 3rd nine weeks classes, no more than 2 failing grades this year c. Good conduct in and outside of class d. Paperwork is due Friday, April 1st at 4:00pm. PARTICIPANTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN CLINICS OR TRYOUTS IF PAPERWORK IS INCOMPLETE. NO EXCEPTIONS. e. Forms due to Coach Gilbert's room 2107: These must be stapled, in order, and with the cover sheet/checklist completed on top. o Tryout Packet Cover Page/Checklist o Tryout Application o Handbook and Guidelines Signature Page o Copy of Physical Form (must have doctor's stamp or it cannot be accepted) f. Forms that must be completed online: Go to the Electronic Forms link on the bottom right of the website to access these forms. o Coach/Student Communication Waiver o Emergency Information Form o FBISD Athletic Policies o Insurance Notice o UIL Cardiac Arrest Form o UIL Acknowledgement of Rules o UIL Concussion Form o UIL Steroid Use Form

4. Tryout Clinics a. The clinics are from 4:05-5:30 PM on Tuesday, April 5th through Thursday, April 7th. Please promptly pick up your student at 5:30 PM. b. The outgoing 8th grade cheerleaders will teach cheerleading candidates all of the material they need to know. Mascots create their own skit and they will practice it at the clinics with our outgoing mascots. c. The 3rd day of clinics will be a mock tryout and we will go through the day as if it were tryouts. Candidates will get feedback from outgoing 8th grade cheerleaders.

5. Tryouts a. The official tryout is on Friday, April 8th from 4:05-630 PM. This day will take longer than the other days. Be prepared for this circumstance. Nobody can leave until the entire tryout process is complete. b. Attire: o Clinics: sneakers, t-shirt, shorts, and hair pulled back o Tryouts: plain white t-shirt with no writing or BMS PE shirt, black or gray shorts with no writing or BMS PE shorts, white shoes and white socks, hair pulled back, no jewelry, no colored fingernail polish o Clothes not allowed: tank tops, tight-fitting shorts, short above mid-thigh, jewelry a. Tryouts and clinics are closed to friends and family. NO EXCEPTIONS. Only candidates, outgoing 8th grade cheerleaders, and the sponsor are allowed in the gyms or in the hallways near the gyms. b. Results: Tryout results will be posted on the Baines cheerleading and mascot website on the day of tryouts Friday, April 8th by 7:00 pm.

6. After you make the team: a. Payments o First payment is due on or before April 22nd and will be $350. o The second payment will be due on May 6th. The payment amount will be announced after the team is decided. o If your child tries out you are accepting the financial responsibility of being on the cheerleading and mascot team. b. Camp o MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS. NO EXCEPTIONS. Absence for any period of time at camp will result in dismissal from the team due to FBISD policy. o We will attend the NCA Sugar Land Day Camp. The camp is from 8:30-5:00pm on August 5th through August 7th at Sartartia Middle School. o Your child cannot tryout if they cannot be at camp. c. Practices o We will begin having practices starting at on April 14th. There will be a practice once a week after school every Thursday from 4:05-5:00pm until the end of the school year. o We will also have summer practices starting in the middle of July to get ready to camp. Those dates will be announced after the team has been selected. d. This is a big responsibility. Students will be held to a very high standard of excellence once they make the team. They will be in the spotlight in our school and must set an example inside and outside of the classroom. No drama or inappropriate conduct will be tolerated or allowed.
