Teacher & Paraprofessional Team Commitments

My duty as a paraprofessional (para) is to support the classroom, students, and lead teacher in a way that creates a healthy and productive learning environment that best fits the needs of the students. In order to do this, I agree to follow and fulfill these commitments to the best of my abilities.

Teamwork: -I am a team member in this classroom, so it is my responsibility to take on and complete any task necessary to better the classroom. -As a responsible team member, I will communicate everything necessary to my team in an effective and professional manner. -I will be an active participant in the daily routines, team meetings, classroom preparations, planning, and trainings.

Professionalism: -I will read, sign, and abide by the Code of Ethics, Confidentiality Agreement, and all team meeting sheets. -I will conduct and present myself in a manner that makes me a positive and appropriate role model for the students. -I will act as a professional adult and take responsibility for all my actions. (Positive & not-so-positive) -I will NOT partake in gossip. Gossip: discussion of a personal or intimate nature that is often about someone who is not present and with the intent of harming that person’s reputation. -I will abide by USD 465’s policy handbook. Supervision: -Ms. Tabatha McMullen is my direct supervisor, and although I am an equal team member in this classroom, I understand that she has good intentions regarding our team, and I will respect her authority. -I will communicate openly, honestly, and professionally with my direct supervisor. -I will follow the chain of command. I will not go above my supervisor unless there are documented and signed communications between my direct supervisor and myself about the issue at hand and my direct supervisor is failing to withhold our agreements reached through our documented communication. -I am an equal in this classroom, but I will approve any form of communication with families through my direct supervisor. -I will take direction from my direct supervisor and perform any tasks assigned by my direct supervisor. -I will try to give as much advanced written notice of planned absences to my direct supervisor as possible. -I will prepare whatever may be needed for the classroom during my planned absences. -I will CALL my direct supervisor by 6:30 a.m. when I will be absent and as soon as possible when I will be tardy. I understand that text messages and voicemails for absences or tardiness are NOT acceptable. -I will complete my time sheets in an accurate and timely manner. I am responsible for my time sheets.

I have read and will abide by the above commitments. I understand that my failure to fulfill my commitments could result in consequences that could affect my position as a member of this team.
