The Richard & Ginni Mithoff Pro Bono Program is pleased to open applications for the Mithoff Pro Bono Scholars Program for the 2015-16 academic year.
Students selected as Mithoff Scholars will receive a scholarship of $3,500 and must commit to working up to 200 hours during the academic year with the Mithoff Program. Scholars are selected through a competitive application process. Selection criteria include management, communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills, as well as demonstrated commitment to pro bono service.
Students selected as Mithoff Scholars will work closely with the Mithoff Program Director and other program staff to plan and implement pro bono projects and conduct research and outreach that furthers the mission of the program. Each Scholar will serve as a team leader for a particular project or subject matter area, and also will serve on the Mithoff Program’s student advisory board.
The Mithoff Program is seeking Scholars to serve as team leaders for the following projects:
Criminal Justice (includes Expunction Clinics) Educational Equity (includes Youth Court) General Legal Aid (may include Wills Clinics, Divorce Clinics) Immigration (may include DACA/DAPA Clinics) Pro Bono in January
Students who are willing to serve as a leader for more than one team should rank their team preferences. Students also may propose to lead a project or projects of their own design. Applications from students seeking a partial scholarship ($1,750, up to 100 hours of work with the Mithoff Program) will be considered. Additional Scholars may be selected during the 2015-2016 academic year as project needs are identified.
Interested students are welcome to contact current Scholars Andrea Meza, [email protected], or Colleen Mulholland, [email protected], with questions about the Scholars Program.
