IT’S DATA RETREAT TIME! OBJECTIVES: The students will be able to:  Identify and Explain important statistical sites relating to development data on the 6 core countries.  Review and analyze data to determine the level of development of countries in the AP Comparative Government and Politics curriculum.

INSTRUCTIONS: 1.) The students will be divided into separate groups in order to do a statistical analysis of the core Countries of Comparative Politics. 2.) Each student will research one key statistical site and explain how the site measures its data and the level of development of each country, 3.) Search for development data on the following countries: UK, RUSSIA, CHINA, IRAN, NIGERIA, MEXICO, AND THE USA 4.) Students will use the following websites to search for statistical information relevant to the development of the core countries.  CIA World Factbook - https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html Using the CIA site, search for and record the following information about each of the core countries: Social Statistics - Population - Population Growth Rate and rank in the world - Age Structure – By 0-14 years, 15-24 years, 25-54 years, 55-64 years, and 65 and over - % of Urban Population - Infant Mortality Rate - Life Expectancy at Birth - Literacy Rate – Total / For Men / For Women Economic Statistics - GDP and rank in the world - GDP Per Capita and rank in the world - GDP Growth rate - GDP By Sector of Origin – Agriculture, Industry and Services - Population Below the Poverty Line
