A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of the Louisville Bats. WHEREAS, a Triple A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, the Louisville Bats baseball team has played in the International League since 1998; and WHEREAS, the Louisville Bats baseball team drew 649,243 adoring fans to Slugger Field in 2001 which means an average of 9,275 fans supported the team every game; and WHEREAS, the Louisville Bats baseball team enjoyed enough fan loyalty to have five sell outs of Slugger Field in 2001; and WHEREAS, also in 2001, the Louisville Bats baseball team established a franchise record of 84 wins and a .583 winning percentage; and WHEREAS, the 2001 Louisville Bats captured for the first time in franchise history the Governor's Cup Championship; and WHEREAS, the Governor's Cup Championship was the fourth championship in franchise history because the team had won three others while a member of the American Association; and WHEREAS, the Louisville Bats finished with a 16.5 game advantage over Columbus which was a record in the International League West; and WHEREAS, the 16.5 game lead established a franchise record for the largest lead in a season, previously held by the 1983 Redbirds; and WHEREAS, the 2001 Louisville Bats team completed the season with an 84-60 record which is a franchise best for games over .500; and WHEREAS, the 2001 Louisville Bats team completed their best road record in franchise history, ending the season with a .528 winning percentage; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The members of this body, both individually and collectively, hereby hail and commend the Louisville Bats baseball team upon the unprecedented success of the team in the 2001 season. Section 2. The House of Representatives hereby proclaims each officer, coach, and member of the Louisville Bats baseball team to be outstanding citizens and exemplary representatives of the Commonwealth. Section 3. When the House of Representatives does adjourn this day, Wednesday, March 27, 2002, it does so in honor of the Louisville Bats baseball team.
