Sylvan Park PTO Meeting Minutes September 16, 2014

Natasha Moore opened the meeting by welcoming those present and announcing the first agenda item.

Principal Update - Susan Blankenship reported the school is running well. She has been spending a lot of time in the classrooms and has recently showcased the school to in-network principals.

Treasurer Update - Winston Edwards reviewed the PTO finances for 8/19/14-9/16/14. The total balance is close to $39,000. There are still some deposits to make.

Invest in Your Child Campaign - Erin Morrison reported the campaign is going well, but participation is still low. Less than 20% of families have given. The campaign ends September 26th. Giving online is very quick and easy this year.

Parent Social and Silent Auction - Yoli Mara gave an update on the Social. It will be held from 6:30-8:30 on September 26th. The cost is $30 per person and tickets are available on the school website. Forms were also sent home. A few babysitting spots are still available. There are great local restaurants and brewers participating. A list of some of the auction items was passed out.

City Saver Update - Carrie Harris reported the sale a big success as the school surpassed last year’s sales. The final numbers are not yet in. The Local Taco night was a success, raising over $400. They would like to host another night soon.

Other Business - Friday October 24th is the Halloween Party. Volunteers are needed and an email will go out to the 4th grade parents. Bridgette Butler announced a Spirit Wear Co-Chair is needed, Jennifer Lutgens volunteered for the position. Spirit Store will be held the third week of October after fall break. Chelle Baldwin reported 289 people came to Watch Dog Dads. “Dads” can still sign up online, an email will be going out soon with the information.

Important Dates - Natasha reminded everyone about the cross-cluster events including: October 16 - Sylvan Park/Eakin night at WEMS October 21 PTO Meeting - Dr. Hammond from WEMS October 28 8am - Coffee for 3rd and 4th grade parents to learn about WEMS

Natasha Moore closed the meeting thanking all in attendance for coming. The parent Paideia Seminar followed.
