Title of Thesis: “Vibration Studies and Phase Transitions in Divalent Metal Perchlorate Hexahydrates” (Supervised by Prof. H. D. Bist ). During Ph D the following works were carried out:

Synthesis of highly pure metal perchlorate hexahydrates and A2 BX 4 Halides compounds. Growing single crystals of above compounds and characterizes them by analytical techniques likes XRD, IR, & Laser Raman Spectrometer. In house development and fabrications of low and high temperature IR and Raman spectrometer cells and studies the thermal behavior of above materials. Investigation of phase transformation temperatures and the crystal structure of the material in different phases and correlate their properties with other techniques.

1 The main activities of Analytical Division (molecular spectroscopy, chromatography and atomic spectrometry group) are to provide analytical support to various key research projects of R & D and giving analytical solution to the problems facing by Refinery Division and Marketing Division of Indian Oil Corporation.

Experience in Petroleum Industry: I joined in Analytical Division of IOCL, R & D Centre, Faridabad in Aug1984 and working in this department till now. I am superannuating on 30th April-2014. Therefore I have an experience of 29 years and 8 months in Characterization and determination of molecular structural of petroleum and related products including Bio-fuels and catalyst by the using various sophisticated analytical techniques such as XRD, XRF, ESCA, TEM, DSC,TGA,ICAP, ICP-MS, AAS, FT-IR, FT-RAMAN, NMR, Gas Chromatography with FID,TCD,NCD,SCD, PFPD detectors ,HPLC/GPC/HTGPC with RI ,UV, ELSD, PDA and florescence Detectors, GC-MS,HRMS etc.

 Development of new analytical methods based on various analytical techniques as an alternative to standard methods (ASTM, UOP etc)  Creation of new analytical facilities to achieve international standard of excellence & to meet the future analytical challenges  Analyses of alternative fuels: Bio-ethanol based, biodiesel from vegetable oils and Algal oil, Bio-Hydrogen from Bio mass and Oil Shale materials  Hydrocarbon characterization of fuels ranges products and refining feed stocks (heavier ends as VGO, HVGO, RCO etc).  Monitoring of RFCC/Hydro processing refining processes for the production of low/ultra low sulphur fuels meeting Euro specifications.  Low and ultra low metal analyses (ppb to ppm level) in fuels, refining feed stocks, lubricants, Polymers and petrochemicals.  Lubricant analyses (Formulations, additive components and base oils).  Analysis of greases , grease thickeners ,bitumen and asphaltenes  Understanding of Additive-Additive Interactions by spectroscopic techniques.  Characterization of catalysts (zeolite and zeolite additives, Ni/MO-Alumina).  Metallurgical failure samples analysis and troubleshooting of Refineries.
