Position Title: Homeless Services Manager

Position Status: Full-time, Start date 1/16/15

Job Classification: Exempt In compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is classified as an Exempt position and the employee is not eligible for overtime. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY United Way of the Midlands serves as the lead administrative agency for the local homeless continuum of care, operates the continuum’s electronic client management database, and serves as regional coordinator for homeless services for the City of Columbia.

The Homeless Services Manager would serve as the lead staff for the local homeless coalition. The position would lead and coordinate coalition work including submission of federal grant applications, monitoring of grant recipients, technical assistance to grantees and the local coalition board, and overall staff leadership of the coalition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES . As executive lead for Coalition provide administrative support and meeting facilitation. . Lead the coordination and submission of the local homeless coalition’s annual federal grant application. . Participation in local government Consolidated Plans. . Monitoring and evaluation of local coalition federally funded grantees for performance. . Analyze community housing and service needs. . Submission of required federal reports. . Coordination of annual unduplicated point-in-time homeless count. . Community outreach to increase participation in local homeless coalition. . Community education on homeless issues. . Research homeless program and systems best practices. . Supervise additional staff supporting coalition and local homeless issues work.

REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required

1 . Bachelor’s level degree in human services, health field, or related field with at least three years of experience in non-profit or local government setting. . Experience working with homeless programs or service providers. . Grants development or grants management experience. . Strong organization and communication skills.

Preferred . Master’s level degree in human services, health field, or related field with at least three years of experience in non-profit or local government setting. . Experience working with homeless programs and/or homeless service providers.
