The Real Friends of the Rec

December 2008 The Real Friends of the Rec www.realfriendsoftherec.co.uk This is just to let you know that we are up and running with our strenuous efforts to Save Sport in Bath A.S.A.P. (All Sports for All People!)

In laymen’s terms, our aims include giving Bath Rugby, the major financial contributor to the Rec, the independent support that is needed to retain top flight rugby IN Bath.

But, while they will be the main sport, we are approaching other sports and Events to make any redevelopment viable, including: Cricket, Football, Baseball, Marathon Running/Athletics and Hurling/Gaelic Football to name a few. In addition, we aim to encourage the Trustees of the Bath Recreation Ground to continue to consider the best interests of the City of Bath as regards the Rec, particularly its long-term financial viability.

We have received support from nearly 2500 people and our numbers are growing daily.

Can we urge you to encourage as many of YOUR members, families and friends to show their support for Sport in Bath and sign up on the above site? Feel free to print this letter and display on your notice board.

The loss of top sport in the centre of Bath is almost unimaginable, but a real possibility. We need to show that ALL sports can be part of an exciting and revitalized Rec and share in the regeneration of a unique Sporting venue.
