FINANCE ASSISTANT

INFORMATION ABOUT ST LUKE’S

St Luke’s Trust is a charity whose aim is to improve the lives of people living in and around the ward of Bunhill in the south of Islington. Serving a neighbourhood of around 12,000 residents, the charity runs a large community centre from which it hosts and provides a wide range of services and facilities.

The St Luke’s area is typical of many diverse inner-city neighbourhoods with high levels of deprivation of income, education, housing and health. The area is rapidly changing and the population is set to grow over the next 5 years.

St Luke’s has been going through an exciting period of major strategic change and is starting a major construction project in January 2011 to refurbish and rebuild parts of the community centre. We are the community anchor organisation for our neighbourhood.

The charity is an old endowed Trust with over £11m in invested assets which currently provides most of the income to run its own community centre and the existing services. St Luke’s has been embarking on a period of growth by extending what it does, diversifying and expanding the sources of income, so that it is no longer limited by what it is only able to deliver from its investment income. Our current turnover is around £1m. About half of this comes from the investments, a further £100,000 from room hire and rental income, and the remainder made up of various and numerous restricted fund grants and commissions.

For more information about St Luke’s please visit our website www.slpt.org.uk, and find out how you can be part of transforming the charity and our neighbourhood.
