The business was established in 2009 as a pilot project to assess the feasibility of the ‘business of biodiesel production’ in Zambia. PROCUREMENT PROCEDURE

OUR MARKETS

Biodiesel fuel: The current policy on biofuels allows for a blend of 5% biodiesel fuel with 95% fossil diesel fuel in the national mix. This policy has created a national market for up to 35 million litres of biodiesel per year.

Our capacity to produce biodiesel fuel is limited by the availability of raw material. We now make biodiesel on order basis and for our own consumption.

Natural soap products: other products produced for vegetable oils at Tapera include soap products, a range comprising of laundry bars, toilet soaps, washing paste, organic shampoo. BUSINESS PROFILE Our biggest mover is the laundry bars, which we supply to mass markets in Lusaka’s biggest market, Soweto. Our daily output for laundry bars is 1000 1.2 kg bars per day.

Jatropha seed: We provide market linkages for small scale farmers to supply jatropha seeds to our processing facility and to other biofuels processing facilities such as Copperbelt Energy Cooperation and Bio Energy Resources Limited in Malawi.
