FULLY ACCESSIBLE SELF CATERING HOLIDAY BUNGALOW ELMER SANDS, NEAR BOGNOR REGIS, WEST SUSSEX PO22 6JU

The bungalow has been purpose built to provide holiday accommodation for disabled people with their families and friends. It is self-catering, can accommodate up to10 persons and is designed for wheelchair users (maximum 5).

The bungalow has central heating and comprises 4 twin bedded rooms; there are three Adjustamatic beds; one bedroom has a ceiling hoist. The large lounge contains a sofa bed that can sleep two. There is a dining room and large kitchen containing an electric built-in double oven, grill, gas hob, fridge-freezer, toaster, electric kettle, washing machine and microwave. There are ample cupboards and work surfaces, cleaning equipment, a vacuum cleaner and a carpet sweeper.

The bathroom is also fitted with a ceiling hoist and there is a separate shower-room. Both the bathroom and shower-room are fully accessible for wheelchair users and have a toilet and washbasin. There is a shower chair and two commodes (one with removable arms).

Approximate room sizes – Lounge 23’ x 15’, Dining room 12’ x11’, Kitchen 15’ x11’, Bedrooms – 3 at 13’ x 10’, 1 at 10’x 10’, bathroom and shower-room both at 10’ x 10’

The bungalow is on a private estate, approximately half a mile from shops and buses. The beach is five minutes walk away with an access ramp for wheelchairs. There is a colour television as well as a radio cassette, CD player and a piano – all of which you are welcome to use. LINEN IS NOT SUPPLIED. You will need to take your own duvet covers, sheets, pillowcases, towels, tea cloths and tablecloths etc. There is a single duvet on each bed (a double for the sofa bed) and plenty of pillows if required. Please note duvets and pillows have waterproof covers. In case of accident, these can be wiped clean.

All medical waste (including incontinence pads) must be placed in the yellow bag provided. On no account must these items be put in the dustbin or burnt in the incinerator.

The yellow bag must be left by the dustbin on the day of departure if it contains any matter for disposal.

Great care must be taken to ensure that the vital and expensive hoists are not misused in any way. It is emphasized that all equipment is used entirely at your own risk.

PETS are welcome but prior arrangements must be made with the VASD Office at the time of booking.

SMOKING Is not permitted in the bungalow.

PARKING There is ample private parking space on the tarmac to the right of the bungalow. The Estate regulations do not allow parking on the patio, grass frontage or on the road outside. To avoid damage, do be aware of the roof overhang at the front of the bungalow if you have a van or tall vehicle.

BOOKING Please complete the Bungalow Booking Form and return to us together with a cheque £100.00 per week (payable to “V.A.S.D.”) Once your booking is confirmed the £100.00 deposit is non-refundable. If you want us to arrange insurance (cancellation only) for you, then indicate this on the form and enclose the appropriate insurance premium. We will confirm your booking and inform you of the date when the balance must be paid.

We regret that cancellations notified less than six weeks prior to the holiday will be invoiced in full unless we are able to re-let at short notice. We strongly recommend that all guests take out cancellation insurance, as refunds will only be offered under very exceptional circumstances.

SECURITY DEPOSIT Please note that £50.00 will be added to your invoice and is payable with the outstanding holidays fees. This deposit will be refunded at the end of each let subject to there being no damage to the property/contents. 2009 WEEKLY TARIFF April £445, May £525, June, July, August and September £635. No extra charge is made for gas and electricity including heating.

The bungalow is available on a weekly basis but short breaks can be booked subject to availability.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE: The bungalow is available from 1500 hrs on the day of arrival (preferably Saturday - Saturday) and must be vacated by 1000 hrs on the day of departure. Should you arrive before 1500 hrs it will not be available for occupation.

LOCAL PLACES OF INTEREST: Bognor Regis has a pier, park, zoo and leisure centre. Butlins Holiday Camp is open to day visitors at all times. Arundel Castle, Climping Beach, Littlehampton, Worthing and Chichester are within easy reach with Brighton, Portsmouth and Southsea not too far away. Bosham is very picturesque and the Roman Palace at Fishbourne is accessible to wheelchairs.

Your kind co-operation in maintaining the bungalow in good order will be much appreciated. Please report any breakages or unsatisfactory equipment to the VASD offices and leave the bungalow in a clean and tidy condition. We regret that failure to comply will result in future bookings from those responsible being refused.
