Dear Parent / Guardian,

On Tuesday 23 July, Mingoola students will join with other schools at Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre to participate in the Kids vs. Wild personal development program. Students will engage in activities designed to challenge their perceived limitations and discover hidden abilities. Activities include orienteering, survival skills and personal reflection on who they wish to be. This will be an overnight excursion, with students departing Mingoola PS at 7am on Tuesday morning and returning to school by 3pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Please ensure that students arrive at school by 6:45am, with the following equipment:

 sleeping bag & pillow or swag

 additional blanket (in case of extreme cold)

 toiletries

 shower towel

 old (but warm) clothes for outdoor activities

 good walking shoes

 torch

 thongs to walk to shower

 raincoat or waterproof jacket

 sleeping clothes / pyjamas

 dirty clothes bag

 good sun-protective hat

 water bottle

 crunch for Tuesday (recess and lunch are provided)

 crunch, recess and money for lunch ($10) on Wednesday

 school uniform for use on Wednesday

Students should arrive in the clothes they will wear during the activities, rather than their school uniform. While computer games and entertainment may be brought on this trip, students and parents are advised that luggage will be unsecured during the excursion. As such, it is recommended that students do not bring valuables. Please complete the attached permission slip and return to school this week. There is no cost for this excursion.
