Indian Springs Math Students

It’s a GREAT Day to Be a Tiger Welcome to Title I MATH!!!

To the parents or guardians of ______,

______has an opportunity for extra math support at Leisure Park through Title I for the 2013-2014 school year. This is a continuing program for Third, Fourth, and Fifth graders at Leisure Park. This program supports the classroom teacher and will help your child reach the district and state objectives for math at his/her grade level. I will assist your child by working with him/her on specific math skills either individually or in small groups. We will work in my classroom for 30 minutes a day, three times a week, but will also be working in the classroom with his/her teacher and classmates at various time throughout the year.

This year, we had the ability to screen Third, Fourth, and Fifth graders using a Title I Math screening and/or the Stanford Diagnostic Assessment. These assessments help us determine the strengths and weaknesses of each child in various mathematic areas. These screenings also provided information which allowed me to develop a rank order of all students needing extra math support by grade level. Since space is limited, this ranking helps our program determine which students would benefit most from Title I tutorial support. This program is not affiliated with any Special Education placement. Its role in your child’s education is to help him or her be successful in the math skills and objectives covered in his/her classroom through small group tutoring during the school day.

If you would like to discuss your child’s placement, please call for an appointment at (918-259-4420 ext. 2183). There will be a parent orientation meeting to answer any questions about the Title I Math program on September 30th. An invitation will be sent home with your child regarding this meeting next week.

To receive Title I Math support this school year for your child, please complete and return items 1 and 2.

1. The permission slip must be filled out and returned to the Title I Math teacher. (see back of this sheet) 2. The compact must be signed by the Student, Parent, and Title I Math teacher. The compact is a voluntary agreement to ensure that all the above individuals know their responsibilities so the student can have a successful and rewarding learning experience. We will sign this at Parent Orientation. I am looking forward to a great year of Math learning with our Leisure Park Tigers! Your child’s teacher and I are expecting Great Things from Our Great Students! We know when Parents, Students, and Teachers work together; students become The Best They Can Be!

Thanks for sharing your child with me this year!
